How often do you write articles? For the CPE test or just because you feel like you have something to say? Well, if you find yourself sitting at your computer once in a while, practicing writing articles for CPE or just for fun, you already know that it can be quite a task. In an attempt to gain 230 points, the most coveted score (or more hits and kudos on the article in your blog), you skim articles online time and again for sophisticated phrases and words marked by dictionaries as C2 lexical units.
How do you decide what is a good choice and what is a bad choice? How many phrases can you take, and when does it stop to be “borrowing” and become plagiarism? Is choosing the language an intuitive process or are there any specific steps to follow? As a devoted amateur writer, I’ll guide you through my own process of using authentic materials while mining for language.
The workshop might be beneficial even for those who are not interested in any CPE writing at all, but passionate about writing in general.
In this workshop, you will:
- learn what to pay attention to while choosing phrases for your writing;
- explore what might be a good choice and what might be a bad choice;
- practice writing AND improving a piece of an article of your own.
We will have two pieces of writing here — you before and after!
