There are many instructional strategies that involve students working together to solve a problem, including inquiry-based learning, authentic learning, and discovery learning. This last Friday, our international full-study students, together with our colleague from the Office for International Students (the Department for International Relations) solved the very hard problem on...relaxing a bit after a hard week of studies by going to the movies. 🎬🍿🧋😎
The chosen movie theatre was Victoria Cinema, with a history dating back to 1947, recently rehabilitated and brought back into the city circuit in 2022. Thus, the location also brought a cultural insight to the activity.😊

Săptămâna trecută, colegele noastre Lect. Univ. Dr. Mihaela Popa (Facultatea de Inginerie Hunedoara) și Irena Ciobanu (secretar Departamentul Relații Internaționale) au discutat despre internaționalizare, bune practici și dezvoltare cu partenerii Universității din Belgrad, în cadrul unei mobilități Erasmus +.

The KA171 projects are intended to recognize the importance of extra-European international dimension, especially in higher education, offering opportunities for students and university staff (both academic and non-academic) to study, train or teach in other parts of the world. The activity results can be used in Romania and the partner country to lead to new technologies, products and services in all technical areas. Through international cooperation, a clear advantage and added value, e.g. through an improved knowledge base, access to research and development infrastructures, new areas of application, etc. should be achieved. The KA171 projects are intended to strengthen and expand the European Academic and Research and Cooperation Area.

UPT looks forward to a fruitful collaboration on the current KA171 project with Dr. Inamuddin and our partner, Aligarh Muslim University.

AMU researcher gets prestigious Erasmus+ KA 171-Mobility project

ALIGARH November 25: Generating electricity by using living organisms through Biofuel Cells is a novel idea that holds promise for powering small implants like pacemakers, artificial hearts, and more by utilizing glucose in the blood and a research in this field can bring about new possibilities.

Taking this idea as a core agenda of his research, Dr. Inamuddin, Department of Applied Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been working on this theme for about a decade and recently he has been given the prestigious Erasmus+ KA 171-Mobility project for student and faculty exchange with the Politehnica University Timisoara (UPT), Romania, funded by European Union, for the advancement of Biofuel Cell Research at AMU.

Dr Inamuddin, who has earlier successfully executed a similar study, the Erasmus+ Programme KA107-Mobility project, from 2014 to 2020, pointed out that Biofuel Cell aims to generate electricity by converting glucose catalytically.

He said that Sony's Walkman-charging biofuel cell represents the potential use of a few milligrams of glucose to recharge mobile phones, showcasing the imminent practical application of this technology for enhanced daily convenience.

He stated that the Erasmus+ KA 171-Mobility project includes student exchange mobility for 5-10 months each per year for research and training from AMU to UPT and vice versa. The project also includes staff exchange mobility for 6 days each per year for teaching/training/research from AMU to UPT and vice versa.

Dr Inamuddin made it clear that AMU incurs no financial liability for both incoming and outgoing mobility and the project is valid until 2027.

Earlier, a student Sufia-ul-Haq has conducted her Ph.D. research for eight months at UPT with full funding and published research articles in the journal with an impact factor of 8-9, he added.

Dr. Inamuddin has published 210 research articles in various international scientific journals, 18 book chapters, and 170 edited books, and received several research projects funded by UGC, CSIR, DST, and UPCST. His current research interests include biofuel cells, supercapacitors, and bending actuators.

Politehnica University of Timisoara is starting the year of Erasmus+ non-EU mobilities. During 3-7 November we had the opportunity to host, for a teaching mobility, Adjunct prof. Dr. arch. Alejandro Marinez Suarez coming from Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic.

Adjunct prof. Dr. arch. Alejandro Marinez Suarez:

"During my mobility in Timișoara, and along with greatly motivated students, I have participated in all activities offered by “FAST: Festival for Architecture Schools of Tomorrow”. Also in ‘Cohesion’ Academic Conference as Keynote Speaker and panel moderator, I had the chance to share my work, pedagogical approach, and educational strategies with the projects I develop with my students at UNIBE.

Also actively participated in discussions with high-level figures: deans, professors, and authorities on the future of architecture education concerning the challenges faced by our architectural heritage. Also visited and toured several sites, exhibitions, and projects, along with guests, students, and professors while discussing the key topics presented.

My keynote speech focused on my work as a professional that operates with a hybrid practice model.

I have shared and discussed several research projects developed at UNIBE on Latin American and Caribbean Modernist Architecture in order to extrapolate methodologies and experiences that have transcended from the classrooms to architecture professional ‘real-world’ practice. Projects that have the intention of thoroughly analyzing sites and buildings while also continuing to raise awareness about the importance of recognizing and preserving what is left.

Having in mind the importance and relevance of the production of knowledge as a main pedagogical principle, through several academic initiatives participating students are called to reflect, but more so to act. For them, it serves as an eye-opening experience to stress the urgency of calling for attention to society and to authorities who must keep the preservation, legislation, and protection of architectural heritage in their agendas."
