The Multi-Heritage2024 consortium is pleased to announce the successful completion of its Erasmus Mundus Design Measures (EMDM) action and its full readiness to proceed to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) stage.

Between October 2024 and January 2026, the Multi-Heritage2024 partnership advanced with purpose and poise from initial mobilisation to the approval of a complete, quality-assured 120-ECTS Joint Master’s degree. Across a carefully choreographed sequence of meetings—both presencial and online—the consortium agreed upon governance, accreditation strategy, curriculum architecture, mobility pathways, admissions rules, and quality assurance arrangements, culminating in a fully endorsed EMJM package.

The programme now stands academically complete, administratively robust, and QA-ready, with accreditation under the European Approach formally initiated and the EMJM funding application scheduled for submission before 12 February 2026.

From Mobilisation to Maturity
Early Coordination and Foundations (Q4-2024)
The action commenced with an EMDM Information & Management Meeting (19 November 2024), followed by a consortium kick-off shortly thereafter. Governance alignment, timelines, and digital infrastructure were swiftly put in place, including the launch of the shared management environment and the public programme hub at multiheritage.eu.

Strategic Decisions in Sinaia (February 2025)
Meeting in Sinaia, the consortium reached decisive agreement on:

a streamlined single-accreditation strategy,
the award of a joint diploma signed by all rectors,
a two-year, modular curriculum delivered collaboratively across the partnership,
structured multi-country mobility and co-supervised thesis arrangements, and
targeted capacity-building through Blended Intensive Programmes.
Methodology and Best Practice (May 2025)
In Tomar and Porto, attention turned to academic depth and coherence. A research-forward pedagogical model was confirmed, alongside a comprehensive Best Practices Manual addressing learning outcomes, assessment integrity, faculty roles, thesis governance, and QA-aligned curriculum review. The programme’s visual identity was formally adopted, ensuring a unified outward presence.

Academic Consolidation (November 2025)
At Rybník, the consortium approved the full 120-ECTS curriculum, structured over four semesters and delivered entirely in English, following a clear progression from foundations through methods and tools to applied practice. All course syllabi were validated, co-teaching arrangements confirmed, and governance and quality assurance mechanisms consolidated in line with EHEA and ESG standards.

Capstone Approval (January 2026)
The final online meeting marked the formal approval of the complete EMJM package, encompassing governance, admissions, student services, mobility rules, financial management, joint degree policy, and quality assurance. Signature procedures were agreed, with entry into force upon completion by all partners.

Accreditation and Quality Assurance
Multi-Heritage follows a single, integrated accreditation under the European Approach for Joint Programmes, coordinated by the University of Camerino in dialogue with the Italian quality assurance agency ANVUR. The self-assessment dossier and supporting evidence have been prepared, with formal uploads under way to maintain the agreed EMJM timeline.

Visibility, Engagement and Outlook
The consortium now operates under a shared visual identity, with aligned communications across partner websites and stakeholder channels. Strong links with museums, archives, NGOs and heritage-sector actors underpin opportunities for internships, applied projects and field-based learning.

Multi-Heritage has moved, with deliberation and distinction, from concept to a fully designed and quality-assured Joint Master’s degree. With curriculum approval secured, accreditation under way, and timelines firmly respected, the consortium now stands well-positioned for external evaluation and the forthcoming launch of an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master dedicated to the thoughtful, multidisciplinary preservation of Europe’s shared heritage.

The Multi-Heritage consortium successfully concluded its Seventh (Final) reporting period with an online meeting of the Joint Steering Committee and Key Project Team on 20 January 2026. The meeting represented a major milestone, confirming the programme’s academic, administrative, and quality-assurance readiness for submission as an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Programme (EMJM).

Following sustained monthly coordination throughout the reporting period, the consortium reached full agreement on the complete joint-programme package.

Decisions and Approvals
During the meeting, the consortium unanimously approved nine core EMJM documents, forming the foundation of the Multi-Heritage Joint Master:

Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree Cooperation Agreement (governance, finance, risk management, quality assurance, jointness)
Joint student admission and academic regulations (application, selection, monitoring, assessment, and progression)
Joint programme design and integrated teaching and training activities
Common student services framework (admission-to-graduation support, mobility, inclusivity, visas, insurance)
Joint promotion and awareness-raising strategy (branding, website, EU visibility, outreach)
Joint administrative and financial management model
Joint degree policy, confirming a single joint diploma with Diploma Supplement
Joint Student Agreement, defining rights, obligations, conduct, and appeals
Adherence to the Standards for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes in the EHEA (ESG / European Approach)
The consortium also confirmed the procedures for signature collection, including electronic and qualified digital signatures, and the entry-into-force conditions for all agreements.

The accreditation process has been formally initiated. Uploading of the full accreditation documentation package to the national evaluation workflow will commence in the coming days, in line with the agreed Erasmus Mundus timeline.

Erasmus Mundus Funding Submission
The consortium confirmed that the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master funding application will be submitted on the EU platform before 12 February 2026.
This timeline, endorsed during the 20 January 2026 meeting, follows the completion of accreditation uploads and final formatting checks related to document signatures.

Quality Assurance and Jointness
Jointness is embedded across all programme dimensions, including:

Governance and decision-making
Curriculum and learning outcomes
Admissions and student support
Assessment and progression
Degree award and records management
Alignment with the ESG and the European Approach is explicitly integrated throughout the approved documentation and accreditation roadmap.

Conclusion
The Multi-Heritage consortium closed the reporting period in a state of full documentary readiness. With all nine EMJM documents approved, accreditation initiated with ANVUR, and the Erasmus Mundus funding submission scheduled before 12 February 2026, the programme is well positioned for external evaluation and future launch.

A Meeting in the Borderlands: The MULTI-HERITAGE2024 Consortium Convenes in Rybník

One does not often approve a complete Erasmus Mundus curriculum within sight of the former Iron Curtain—yet such was the distinction of the MULTI-HERITAGE consortium’s third face-to-face meeting, held from 10–13 November 2025 in the borderland village of Rybník, Czechia. This gathering marked a decisive moment in the project’s trajectory, bringing academic design, governance, and lived heritage into a most persuasive alignment.
Convened under the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures action, organised by University of South Bohemia and its Department of Geography and co-coordinated with Valahia University of Târgoviște (Romania), the meeting delivered three outcomes of some consequence: the formal approval of the full 120-ECTS joint Master’s curriculum, the endorsement of all course syllabi, and the consolidation of cooperation, accreditation, and quality-assurance pathways in readiness for the European Approach to accreditation. One might say the house is now very much in order.
The choice of venue was anything but incidental. Set within the former border zone dividing East and West, Rybník and its surrounding landscape offer a rare, almost unsettling clarity on how 20th-century political decisions inscribe themselves upon terrain, settlement, and memory. The consortium’s academic deliberations were therefore interwoven—quite deliberately—with curated field visits to the vanished villages of Lučina and Pleš, communities erased through post-war population transfers and border closures, and now standing as eloquent witnesses to Europe’s fractured past.
A visit to Horšovský Týn Castle provided a contrasting yet complementary register: an architectural palimpsest through which longer historical continuities could be read alongside rupture and loss. In this setting, the project’s guiding principle—heritage understood in context, rather than as isolated artefact—was rendered refreshingly tangible.
Indoors, matters were handled with equal thoroughness. The consortium approved the complete two-year programme architecture, confirming mobility pathways, semester hosting, and the progression from foundations through methods and tools to applied research. All syllabi were adopted in full, each aligned with EQF-level learning outcomes, ECTS workloads, assessment regimes, and integrated field and research components. A co-teaching model and joint supervision framework were likewise confirmed, ensuring intellectual coherence across institutions.
Governance, too, received its due attention. The partners finalised the contours of the Cooperation Agreement, established the mandates of the Steering Committee and specialist bodies (Admissions, QA, Curriculum, Dissemination, and Staff-Student Consultation), and refined joint policies on admissions, degree issuance, student services, and financial management. Progress across all nine EMDM deliverables was reviewed and confirmed, from joint promotion and student agreements to audit-ready administrative procedures.
The meeting was impeccably organised by the University of South Bohemia’s Department of Geography, under the guidance of Vojtěch Blažek, Petra Karvánková, and Jiří Rypl, whose programme balanced intellectual rigour with an unusually vivid sense of place. Their efforts allowed participants to move—sometimes within the same afternoon—from governance clauses to ghost villages, from accreditation timelines to landscapes marked by absence.
In sum, the Rybník meeting achieved what many aspire to but few quite manage: it joined strategic academic decision-making with direct engagement in the very heritage processes the programme seeks to teach, interpret, and preserve. With the curriculum now approved and accreditation preparations underway, MULTI-HERITAGE advances into its next phase with confidence—and, one suspects, a certain quiet satisfaction befitting the occasion.

The 2nd in-person meeting of the project MULTI-HERITAGE 2024: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Heritage Preservation (ref. 101180427), launched under the ERASMUS+ Programme and coordinated by the Valahia University of Targoviste (VUT), took place on the 12th and 13th of May 2025 in Tomar. The Polytechnic University of Tomar (IPT) hosted the second meeting of a series of three foundational and instrumental meetings in the process of developing a master's programme aligned with the objectives of the ERASMUS Mundus Design Measures, which aims to present an innovative and interdisciplinary approach to the preservation of cultural heritage. Delegations from the seven universities that make up the project were present: Valahia University of Targoviste (Romania), D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics (Bulgaria), University of South Bohemia (Czechia), Adana Alparslan Türkeş Science and Technology University (Turkey), University of Camerino (Italy), University of Trnava (Slovakia) and the host organisation, Polytechnic University of Tomar (Portugal). The delegation from the latter was made up of Professors Célio Marques, Hermínia Sol, Ricardo Triães and Andreia Nogueira, as well as the Head of the Culture Division of Tomar City Council, Dr. Ana Soares, who is a member of the project's Advisory Board.

This meeting enabled progress to be made on the creation of a Best Practices Manual, the development of the curriculum programme and the accreditation process to be started.

The programme also included a visit to the Viticulture Commission of the Vinho Verde Region (CVRVV), whose headquarters are at Silva Monteiro’s Palace in Porto, where the group of participants was welcomed by the President of the CVRVV, Ms. Dora Simões, as well as by Professor António Barros Cardoso, President of the Portuguese Association for the History of Vine and Wine (APHVIN). A lecture on the history of vinho verde was also given by TECHN&ART researcher Mr. José Luís Braga, thus providing the different delegations with knowledge about the intersection of various cultural aspects, especially in the north of Portugal, with this wine heritage, some of which was demonstrated during the guided tour of Porto city centre, also led by Mr. José Luís Braga.

In order to contribute to the process of creating and consolidating the project's identity, an ideas competition was organised by Prof. Regina Delfino, Director of the Editorial Design Master's Degree, to choose the best logo proposal for MULTI-HERITAGE 2024. The winning proposal was submitted by António Pedro Assis Fernandes, a student on the Graphic Arts Design and Technology BA degree, and the proposal by Beatriz Cotrim, a student on the Editorial Design master's degree, which came second, was given an honourable mention by the jury.

The meeting ended with a commitment to move forward with the accreditation process for the MULTI-HERITAGE Mundus master's degree, ensuring that deadlines are met and that the curriculum is aligned with defined best practices, industry needs and cutting-edge methodologies in heritage education.

Multi-Heritage2024 Project Meeting in Sinaia: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Heritage Preservation

Sinaia, Romania – The Multi-Heritage2024 project, officially launched under the Erasmus+ Programme (Project Number: 101180427), brings together leading European institutions to develop an innovative master’s programme focused on heritage preservation. The initiative, running from November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2026, aims to integrate multidisciplinary approaches in heritage studies, enhance academic cooperation, and foster international mobility among students and faculty.
From February 12–15, 2025, key partners convened in Sinaia for the first project meeting, laying the foundation for the programme’s governance, accreditation strategy, and curriculum design. Discussions centered on structuring the MultiHeritage Mundus Master Programme to meet international academic standards and labor market needs. The meeting also included field visits to significant heritage sites such as the Peles National Museum, Prejmer Saxon Fortified Church and the George Enescu Memorial House.
The project aims to integrate state-of-the-art digital methodologies, conservation theories, eco-cultural heritage perspectives, and gamification strategies into its curriculum. Additionally, it will foster cross-border collaboration and mobility, allowing students to gain hands-on experience in heritage sites across multiple countries.
During the recent project meeting in Sinaia, Romania (February 12-15, 2025), key decisions were made regarding governance, accreditation, curriculum development, and student mobility. A unified accreditation model was agreed upon, ensuring a single diploma jointly issued by all partner universities. The curriculum will feature modular teaching, co-chaired courses, and interdisciplinary learning pathways, with students required to study in at least three different countries.
The programme will emphasize practical training, internships, and international fieldwork, offering students direct engagement with heritage sites and institutions. Admission criteria, including language proficiency at B2 level and a flexible enrollment system, have been established to ensure accessibility and academic excellence.
With the next steps focusing on finalizing the curriculum structure, defining mobility pathways, and strengthening institutional partnerships, the Multi-Heritage2024 project is poised to become a benchmark for heritage education in Europe and beyond, fostering cross-border academic cooperation and equipping future professionals with the necessary skills to preserve and promote Europe’s cultural heritage.

have been awarded a €60,000 grant under the Erasmus Mundus Design Measures programme (project no. 101180427 signed on 11.10.2024). The funding supports the development of a Master Programme entitled “Heritage – multidisciplinary approach for better preservation.”

This application, submitted in February 2024, ranked among the top in the competition, achieving a score of 92 out of 100.

An Innovative Master Programme
The “Heritage – multidisciplinary approach for better preservation” program will leverage the multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary strengths of the KreativEU alliance to create a globally competitive educational initiative. It aims to address contemporary heritage preservation challenges through innovative methodologies while fostering cultural diversity, environmental conservation, and digital heritage technologies.

Expected Outcomes and Milestones
Within the 15 months, the consortium will design and accredit the curriculum, ensuring alignment with educational standards and quality assurance protocols. Expected outcomes include:

Joint student admission requirements and application, selection, monitoring, examination, and evaluation procedures.
Joint program design and integrated teaching/training activities.
Common services offered to students, including language courses and visa support.
A joint promotion and awareness-raising strategy.
Joint administrative and financial management by the consortium.
A joint degree policy.
Drafting of a joint partnership agreement involving at least three higher education institutions from three different countries, with at least two from program countries.
Drafting of a joint student agreement.
Adherence to the Standards for Quality Assurance of Joint Programs in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
Meetings and Timeline
The first online kick-off meeting was held on 22 November 2024 on Zoom to discuss the timeline, budget, and expected outcomes. Regular online meetings will continue regularly.
