The final day of the Training Course for Teachers focused on ensuring the real-life application of Augmentative and Alternative Communication practices in schools and introducing mechanisms for evaluation, follow-up, and sustainability.
Participants explored practical implementation strategies in school settings, reflecting on how AAC can be integrated into daily classroom routines, lesson activities, communication with students, cooperation with families, and wider school inclusion policies. The discussions highlighted the importance of moving from theory to practice and ensuring that AAC becomes a consistent part of inclusive education.
A key part of the day was dedicated to monitoring and evaluation tools, including the use of pre- and post-assessment methods to measure progress, identify needs, and evaluate the impact of AAC strategies on learners’ participation, communication, and confidence.
The session also introduced the importance of building a community of practice and networking among teachers, therapists, parents, and project partners. Participants discussed how continued collaboration, exchange of resources, peer support, and shared reflection can help maintain and improve AAC practices after the training course.
Another important topic was the sustainability of AAC practices. Participants reflected on how schools can continue using AAC tools and inclusive communication strategies beyond the project period by embedding them into teaching plans, school procedures, staff cooperation, and family engagement.
Through guided planning, participants developed ideas for applying the knowledge gained during the course in their own educational contexts. The day concluded with reflection and discussion, allowing participants to review the learning journey, share key takeaways, and identify next steps for promoting communication accessibility in their schools.
Day 5 successfully concluded the training week, reinforcing the project’s mission to support inclusive communication for all learners and to create educational environments where every child has the right and opportunity to express themselves.

📅 4–8 May 2026
Day 4 of the Training Course for Teachers focused on integrating Augmentative and Alternative Communication into curriculum design and strengthening cooperation between schools, teachers, therapists, and families.
The day explored how AAC-based lesson planning can support the active participation of learners with diverse communication needs. Participants reflected on how classroom activities, learning objectives, instructions, materials, and assessment methods can be adapted to ensure that every learner has access to communication and meaningful participation.
A central topic of the session was adapting teaching to diverse needs. Teachers discussed practical ways to make lessons more accessible through visual supports, structured routines, communication boards, symbols, digital tools, differentiated tasks, and inclusive classroom strategies. The emphasis was placed on designing learning experiences where AAC is not treated as an additional support, but as an integrated part of everyday teaching.
The training also highlighted the importance of promoting collaboration between teachers and families. Participants discussed strategies for supporting AAC use at home, helping families understand AAC tools, encouraging consistent communication practices, and creating stronger links between classroom learning and everyday life.
Through case studies and best practices, participants analysed real educational situations and identified effective methods for supporting learners who use AAC. The day included guided group work, case study analysis, and peer discussions, offering participants the opportunity to exchange experiences, reflect on challenges, and develop practical solutions together.
Day 4 strengthened participants’ ability to design inclusive lessons, adapt teaching approaches, and work collaboratively with families to support communication accessibility beyond the classroom.

📍 Venue: Nürnberg, Germany
📅 4–8 May 2026
⏱️ Duration: 35 hours
Day 3 of the Training Course for Teachers focused on building participants’ competencies in using digital Augmentative and Alternative Communication tools and supporting the meaningful integration of technology in inclusive teaching practices.
The session introduced participants to a variety of AAC digital tools and applications that can support learners with different communication needs. Teachers explored how digital solutions can help students express choices, communicate emotions, participate in classroom activities, and interact more confidently with peers and adults.
A key part of the day was dedicated to the use of assistive technologies for communication, highlighting how tablets, communication apps, adapted devices, visual supports, and accessible digital resources can contribute to more inclusive and responsive learning environments.
Participants also discussed the principles of digital accessibility, reflecting on how educational materials, platforms, and communication tools should be designed and used so that all learners can access information, understand instructions, and participate actively, regardless of their communication abilities or learning needs.
The training included demonstrations and guided exploration of digital AAC tools, followed by hands-on practice. Participants had the opportunity to test different applications and assistive technologies, compare their functions, and discuss how these tools could be adapted to real classroom situations.
Day 3 strengthened teachers’ confidence in using technology as a bridge for communication, participation, and inclusion. The activities encouraged practical experimentation, collaboration, and reflection on how digital AAC tools can become part of everyday inclusive education.

📍 Venue: Nürnberg, Germany
📅 4–8 May 2026
⏱️ Duration: 35 hours
The second day of the Training Course for Teachers continued with a strong focus on understanding the communication needs of learners and developing practical skills for applying Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) strategies in inclusive educational settings.
Participants explored different types of communication barriers that may affect learners, including barriers related to language, speech, cognition, sensory processing, emotional expression, social interaction, and access to appropriate communication tools. The discussions helped teachers reflect on how these barriers can influence participation, learning, confidence, and social inclusion in the classroom.
A central part of the day was dedicated to practical AAC strategies, including modelling, prompting, and reinforcement. Participants analysed how these strategies can support learners in expressing choices, needs, feelings, opinions, and ideas, while also encouraging greater independence and participation.
The training also introduced and demonstrated the use of visual communication systems, such as symbols, visual schedules, communication boards, and structured classroom supports. These tools were presented as accessible and flexible methods that can help learners understand routines, communicate more effectively, and engage more actively in learning activities.
Through group discussions and problem analysis, participants worked collaboratively to identify real-life communication challenges and propose inclusive solutions. The session also included demonstrations of AAC strategies and guided practice, allowing teachers to experience how these methods can be adapted to different classroom contexts and learner profiles.
Day 2 strengthened participants’ understanding of communication accessibility and provided them with concrete tools to support learners who face communication barriers. The activities encouraged reflection, cooperation, and hands-on learning, reinforcing the project’s commitment to inclusive communication for all.
