I went to a luxury club to relax… but I ended up fighting over a damaged jacket.
Last night, I had a very strange dream.
I found myself in an exclusive luxury club, a beautiful place with a swimming pool, elegant rooms, and a relaxing atmosphere. I had gone there to enjoy myself and forget about my everyday problems.
I went to the cloakroom to leave my clothes. While I was changing, I suddenly realized something important: I didn't have my phone with me.
My family and the people I had left outside could not contact me, and I could not contact them either. I felt a little uncomfortable, but I decided to relax and enjoy the experience.
Then something unexpected happened.
An employee of the club came to me. He had a jacket that I had given them to take care of. It was a beautiful, expensive jacket that I considered new and almost perfect.
The employee looked embarrassed.
He told me that they had damaged the inside of the collar while taking care of it.
I immediately became angry.
I started speaking to them in English and told them that they had ruined my new jacket. But then they gave me an even more surprising answer.
They said that the jacket wasn't new.
According to them, I had told them that the jacket had been outside in the countryside and was already old.
I couldn't believe it.
“How can you say that?” I asked. “This jacket is new! I bought it from an exclusive designer store!”
I was no longer thinking about the swimming pool, the luxury club, or relaxing.
I wanted justice.
I asked them to call the manager.
While all this was happening, someone gave me a beautiful bottle of sparkling wine. It looked expensive and elegant. I was holding the bottle in my hand, but I didn't drink it.
That detail became very important.
I had come to the club to enjoy myself, but instead of enjoying the experience, I was completely focused on my damaged jacket and on proving that it was valuable.
Eventually, a man appeared. I wasn't sure whether he was the manager or another important guest. He seemed wealthy and confident.
At first, he also said that the problem wasn't his responsibility.
But I continued explaining how important the jacket was and how much it meant to me.
Finally, he gave me his business card and said:
“Fine. Call my lawyer.”
And then I woke up.
At first, the dream seemed to be about a damaged jacket.
But when I thought about it more deeply, I realized that the jacket might represent something much bigger: my image, my status, and the way I want other people to see me.
The luxury club represented the experience itself. I had gone there to relax, have fun, and enjoy the moment.
The jacket represented my public image.
The missing phone represented my connection with the outside world.
And the bottle of sparkling wine represented something beautiful that was already in my hands — the opportunity to enjoy life.
But I was so worried about my image that I forgot to enjoy the experience.
The most interesting question is not:
“Who damaged my jacket?”
The real question might be:
“How often do we care more about what other people think about us than about what we actually feel?”
Sometimes we spend so much time trying to look successful, important, or perfect that we forget to simply live.
Maybe the dream was reminding me of something simple:
Life is not only about how it looks from the outside. It is also about how it feels on the inside.
And sometimes, when life puts a glass of champagne in your hand, you should stop worrying about the jacket…
…and enjoy the champagne. 🥂
