I think tracing letters in a paint bag beats tracing them on paper, and I’ll stand by that one.

Three reasons this mess-free trick works so well: there’s no pencil grip pressure yet, a wrong line just smooths away with one swipe, and the colour alone holds their attention longer than a worksheet ever does.

Your toddler has four words, and suddenly everyone has an opinion. 🗣️

It’s one of the most common pieces of unsolicited parenting advice out there: "Oh, it’s just because you speak two languages to them. You should drop one."

It usually comes from a well-meaning place, but the actual research tells a completely different story.

Bilingual children reach major speech and language milestones at the exact same pace as monolinguals. Their total vocabulary matches their peers when you count both languages together, and a real delay looks identical in one language or two. Dropping a language "just in case" isn't the fix - it's just a myth.

Worksheets have their place in early years. This isn’t it.

Give a child the same word through movement, through their hands, through something they can touch and pour and sort, and it sticks in a way a page never quite manages. Nobody’s filling in a blank here. They’re just playing, and somewhere in that play, the word arrives on its own.

Caught him mid-sort today. Every colour, sorted correctly, and he’s still learning half these words in English.

That’s not a coincidence. Take the pressure off, and repetition stops feeling like repetition. It just feels like play.

Who said sensory play is only for toddlers? Our 5-7 year olds benefit from it just as much.

This week our summer camp class turned into a dino dig site. Vinegar in pipettes, a bicarbonate dinosaur egg, and a lot of concentrated dripping until it finally cracked.

Nobody was thinking about English while they did it. That’s usually when the most sticks.

Try it with your “big kid” and tell us we’re wrong.
