We were delighted to represent the PRECIS Research Center at AstroFest, one of the best science and astronomy events dedicated to discovery and education. 🚀✨
Throughout the event, we showcased a variety of interactive technologies and demonstrations designed to engage visitors of all ages and experience levels. From hands-on activities for young explorers to advanced equipment and applications for technology enthusiasts, our goal was to bring science and research closer to the public.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stand and contributed to making this experience so enjoyable!

A special thank you to Asist. Prof. Miruna Vlășceanu, Prof. Florin Samer, Asist. We were honored to welcome an outstanding official delegation from Tunisia to our PRECIS Research Center at the Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București! 🎓

The delegation brought together representatives from 12 Tunisian universities - including 6 university presidents and 5 vice-presidents - alongside representatives of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Tunisian private sector.

Our guests explored the PRECIS laboratories with great interest, and their curiosity and enthusiasm made this visit truly memorable for our entire team.
We are grateful for the time, the conversations, and the energy they brought with them.

Special thanks to Prof. Cristian Flutur, Prof. Anca Morar, Prof. Severus Olteanu, Prof. Iulia Stamatescu, and Assistant Professors Miruna Vlasceanu and Cerasela Ceapa for their valuable involvement and support throughout the visit.

Viitorul tehnologiei se construiește la Politehnica: Inaugurarea Laboratorului PR206

Pe data de 30 aprilie 2026, am marcat un moment de referință pentru comunitatea noastră academică: deschiderea oficială a Laboratorului PR206, un spațiu de inovare realizat prin parteneriatul cu IBM România.

Găzduit în incinta Institutul de Cercetare PRECIS, noul laborator se concentrează pe Roboți pentru Procese de Producție și Servicii Inovative, oferind studenților acces la tehnologii care definesc industria modernă.

Momente cheie:
• Parteneriat Strategic: Mihnea Costoiu (Rector Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București) și Cerasela Baiculescu (Manager General IBM România & Moldova) au discutat despre importanța colaborării dintre mediul academic și cel privat pentru a susține educația de performanță.
• Viziune și Excelență: Prof. dr. ing. Ioan Sacala, Presedintele Institutului PRECIS, a prezentat realizările actuale și perspectivele de viitor ale institutului, subliniind rolul acestuia ca hub tehnologic regional.
• Integrare Academică: Prof. dr. ing. Mihnea Moisescu (Decan, Facultatea de Automatică și Calculatoare, UPB) a detaliat modul în care aceste tehnologii emergente vor fi integrate direct în formarea viitorilor ingineri IT.
• Tehnologie în acțiune: Evenimentul a inclus o demonstrație practică despre integrarea Inteligenței Artificiale în robotică, susținută de experții Ioan Valeriu Grossu și Eduard Bazarea.

Acest proiect demonstrează angajamentul nostru de a alinia programa academică la cerințele reale ale pieței muncii și de a oferi studenților resurse de talie mondială.

The PRECIS Research Institute had the pleasure of hosting an academic delegation from the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (Portugal) and the Kaunas Engineering College (Lithuania), following an invitation from Prof. Oana-Roxana Chivu and Prof. Liviu Marius Cîrțînă.

During the visit, the guests explored several of the institute’s research facilities, gaining insight into current research directions and available experimental infrastructure. The laboratories visited included Artificial Intelligence for Sensing, Low-Power Networking and ICS Security (AISENSE) – Automation, the Advanced Control Systems Laboratory, and the Critical Infrastructures and Energy-Efficient Processes Laboratory.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Prof. Severus Olteanu, Prof. Iulia Stămătescu, Prof. Ioana Făgărășan, and Prof. Iulian Munteanu for their insightful presentations and for sharing their expertise on the research activities carried out within these laboratories.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for knowledge exchange, presentation of ongoing research activities, and the identification of potential avenues for future academic and scientific collaboration.

În cadrul competiției RoboTEC - concurs de robotică organizat de Facultatea de Automatică și Calculatoare a Universității Politehnica Timișoara - Pletea-Marinescu Valentin (Facultatea de Automatică și Calculatoare,) și Sebastian-Alexandru Matei (Facultatea de Inginerie în Limbi Străine) au obținut locul I la proba Freestyle.

Rezultatul a fost obținut cu un sistem de tip stabilizator inerțial, cu trei grade de libertate, conceput pentru menținerea stabilității lichidului în condiții de mișcare.

Soluția are la bază un proiect dezvoltat inițial în urma participării la competiția Techallenge, fiind ulterior îmbunătățit în cadrul laboratorului FoundryLab coordonat de domnul profesor Daniel Rosner și adaptat ulterior pentru cerințele RoboTEC.

În parteneriat cu Institutul de Cercetare PRECIS, prototipul a fost utilizat ca platformă experimentală pentru realizarea unui studiu comparativ asupra unor metode de control utilizate în automatizări (PID, RST, LQG și MRAC), evidențiind comportamentul acestora în regimuri dinamice.

The visit of Professor Kenneth Thomas Victor Grattan to the Precis Research Institute represented a significant academic engagement for the community of Universitatea POLITEHNICA din București. A globally recognized authority in optics and fibre optic sensing systems, Professor Grattan shared perspectives that connect fundamental research with advanced industrial applications.

A guided tour of the institute’s laboratories highlighted research directions in robotics, artificial intelligence, advanced control systems, low-power networking, and ICS security, emphasizing their relevance within contemporary Industry 5.0 frameworks.

Professor Grattan delivered the lecture “Optical fibre sensor systems – a solution for measurement problems for Industry 5.0”, outlining the role of optical sensing technologies in complex industrial environments. Illustrative case studies included infrastructure monitoring in pumping stations in Sydney, structural health monitoring of the Mjosund bridge in Norway using multiplexed Bragg grating sensors, and the “Measuring the Monument” initiative in London. This latter example demonstrated the deployment of minimally invasive fibre optic sensors in a historic structure, enabling accurate structural assessment and contributing to resolving a longstanding question regarding its original design as a telescope.

The visit fostered meaningful academic exchange and reinforced the relevance of advanced sensing technologies in addressing real-world engineering challenges.

Precis Research Institute was present at the Interoperability for Enterprise Systems and Applications I-ESA Conference (https://iesa2026.digit-madeira.pt/) and the 3rd edition of the Digital Transformation Summit in Madeira between April 13-16.

, one of the chairs of the conference, has lead one of the conference sessions together with , Managing Director, Control 2K Limited and Chairman at European Factory Foundation, while and , presented their research activity within their PhD studies in the field of Healthcare Systems and Smart Transportation.

The events brought together researchers and professionals in enterprise systems and digital transformation, creating a space for discussions and exchange of ideas for future collaborations. Ultima zi la PoliFest, aceeași energie! ⚡

Echipa Institutului PRECIS a fost, de la început până la final, pregătită să aducă în prim-plan ceea ce construim zi de zi: tehnologie, inovație și proiecte cu impact real.

Am prezentat activitatea noastră tuturor celor care ne-au trecut pragul - de la cei aflați la început de drum, până la profesioniști - și am arătat cm ideile devin soluții, iar studenții devin parte activă din acest proces.

În parteneriat strâns cu Facultatea de Automatică și Calculatoare, am demonstrat că viitorul se construiește prin colaborare, pasiune și implicare.

Prima zi ne-a adus față în față cu viitorii ingineri și cu multă energie bună. La standul am prezentat tehnologiile pe care le dezvoltăm, proiectele care ne definesc și, mai ales, modul în care studenții devin parte activă din inovație.
