Uneori, joaca liberă spune mai multe decât o activitate planificată.

Astăzi, în biblioteca școlii, am găsit acest mic univers construit de copii - și, lângă el, un bilet: „Please do not take it apart. I am working on it. Thank you.”

Ne-a făcut să zâmbim. Pentru că, în câteva cuvinte, spune atât de multe: despre imaginație, despre răbdare, despre faptul că un copil poate vedea un proiect acolo unde noi, adulții, vedem doar câteva piese lăsate pe podea.

Joaca liberă înseamnă și asta: să ai timp să construiești, să revii, să continui, să schimbi ceva, să vezi unde te duce ideea ta.

Iar uneori, rolul nostru este pur și simplu să nu ne grăbim să strângem. Să facem puțin loc pentru ceea ce este încă „în lucru”.

Today, in the school library, we found this little world built by the children — and next to it, a note: “Please do not take it apart. I am working on it. Thank you.”

It made us smile. Because in just a few words, it says so much: about imagination, patience, and the way a child can see a project where we, as adults, might only see a few pieces left on the floor.

Free play is also this: having the time to build, come back to it, continue, change something, and see where your idea takes you.

And sometimes, our role is simply not to rush to tidy everything away. To make a little space for what is still “a work in progress.”

🇷🇴 Fiecare copil intră în clasă cu propria lui poveste. Nu există doi copii care să intre într-o clasă în același fel: unul vine cu încredere, altul cu teamă, unul are nevoie să fie provocat, altul să fie încurajat, iar fiecare învață în ritmul și în felul lui.

De aceea, pentru noi, personalizarea învățării nu începe cu o fișă de lucru diferită sau cu un traseu academic adaptat. Începe mai devreme: cu a observa, a asculta și a cunoaște copilul.

Să înțelegi ce îl motivează, ce îl blochează, unde are nevoie de sprijin și unde are nevoie de mai multă provocare, acesta este procesul (și secretul). Abia atunci evaluarea capătă sens și învățarea poate deveni cu adevărat personală.

La Knowledge Tree International School, credem că un copil nu ar trebui să fie măsurat înainte de a fi cunoscut.

🇬🇧 Every child walks into a classroom with a story of their own. No two children enter a classroom in quite the same way: one arrives with confidence, another with uncertainty; one needs to be challenged, another needs encouragement; and each learns in their own rhythm and in their own way.

That is why, for us, personalised learning does not begin with a different worksheet or an adapted academic pathway. It begins earlier: with observing, listening and truly getting to know the child.

Understanding what motivates them, what holds them back, where they need support and where they need more challenge — that is the process, and perhaps the secret. Only then does assessment become meaningful, and learning can become truly personal.

🇷🇴 Un copil crește în mijlocul relațiilor ce îl înconjoară. Relația cu părinții, relația cu profesorii de la școală, modul în care adulții vorbesc unii cu ceilalți și mesajele pe care le transmit construiesc, zi de zi, sentimentul lui de siguranță.

Când familia și școala se ascultă, comunică deschis și rămân de aceeași parte - partea copilului - acesta nu mai trebuie să navigheze între două lumi diferite.

La KTIS, credem că educația funcționează cel mai bine atunci când în jurul copilului există o comunitate de adulți care se respectă, au încredere unii în alții și își asumă împreună responsabilitatea pentru creșterea lui.

Pentru că un copil care se simte susținut din toate părțile are mai mult curaj să exploreze, să greșească, să învețe și să devină el însuși.

The relationship with parents, the relationship with teachers, the way adults speak to one another and the messages they send all shape a child’s sense of safety, day by day.

When home and school listen to each other, communicate openly and stay on the same side - the child’s side - children no longer have to navigate between two different worlds.

🇬🇧 Today’s children will live in a world we cannot fully predict: AI, new technologies and jobs that do not yet exist. Knowing a lot will not be enough. They will need to think, question, collaborate, adapt and keep learning.

Through the Cambridge curriculum and the way we approach learning at Knowledge Tree International School , we focus not only on acquiring knowledge, but on deep understanding, critical thinking, transferring knowledge to new contexts and finding solutions when the answer is not already given.

We cannot prepare children for every job that may exist in the future. But we can prepare them to learn, think and adapt, whatever that future looks like.

🇷🇴 Copiii de azi vor trăi într-o lume pe care nu o putem prezice complet. AI, tehnologii noi, meserii care încă nu există.

De aceea, nu este suficient să știe multe. Au nevoie să știe să gândească, să întrebe, să colaboreze, să se adapteze și să continue să învețe.

Prin curriculumul Cambridge și prin felul în care construim învățarea la KTIS, punem accent nu doar pe acumularea de informații, ci pe înțelegere profundă, gândire critică, transferul cunoștințelor în contexte noi și capacitatea de a găsi soluții atunci când răspunsul nu este deja dat.

Nu îi putem pregăti pentru fiecare meserie care va exista. Dar îi putem pregăti să învețe, să gândească și să se adapteze, indiferent cm se schimbă lumea.

🇬🇧 Freedom is not always the absence of structure. Sometimes, it grows from it.

For children, routines and healthy boundaries can create something very important: predictability.

When children know what to expect, what the limits are and what is expected of them, they can spend less energy managing uncertainty and more energy exploring, thinking, making choices and taking initiative.

This is why we do not see structure as the opposite of autonomy.

Used well, structure can support emotional safety, self-regulation, confidence and, gradually, greater independence.

At , we want children to experience both: the security of a clear framework and the freedom to grow within it.

🇷🇴 Libertatea nu înseamnă întotdeauna absența structurii. Uneori, ea crește tocmai dintr-un cadru sigur.

Pentru copii, rutinele și limitele sănătoase pot crea ceva foarte important: predictibilitate.

Atunci când știu ce urmează, care sunt limitele și ce se așteaptă de la ei, pot consuma mai puțină energie pentru a gestiona incertitudinea și pot păstra mai mult spațiu pentru explorare, gândire, alegeri și inițiativă.

De aceea, nu vedem structura ca pe opusul autonomiei.

Folosite bine, rutina și limitele clare pot susține siguranța emoțională, autoreglarea, încrederea și, treptat, o independență mai mare.

La Knowledge Tree International School , vrem ca un copil să le poată trăi pe amândouă: siguranța unui cadru clar și libertatea de a crește în interiorul lui.

🇬🇧 What can we learn about a child during break time?

Sometimes, a great deal. During breaks, children negotiate, collaborate, disagree, repair relationships, lead, follow and find solutions. For us, play is not a break from learning. It is one of the places where learning becomes visible.

🇷🇴 Ce putem afla despre un copil în timpul pauzei de la școală?

Uneori, foarte mult. În pauză, copiii negociază, colaborează, se contrazic, repară relații, conduc, urmează și găsesc soluții. Pentru noi, jocul nu este o pauză de la învățare. Este unul dintre locurile în care învățarea devine vizibilă.

🇬🇧 Meet the Knowledge Tree International School Mentors | Raluca Țânțărean
Some people join a school along the way. Others grow together with it. Raluca belongs to the second group.

Back in 2020, alongside Monica, she was there in the very first moments of the centre, welcoming some of our first children and becoming part of the beginning of what would later grow into Knowledge Tree International School.

A lot has changed since then. New classes, new generations, new projects, an entire community. But one thing has remained the same: the way Raluca is with children.

Raluca does not play a role around them. She is sincere, open and fully present. You can see on her face when she is happy, moved, curious or when she is searching for an answer together with a child. Perhaps that is why children connect with her so naturally: they can feel that the person in front of them is genuine.

She is deeply fascinated by the transformations children go through and by the unique way each of them sees the world. She guides them with sensitivity and structure, gives them space to be themselves and encourages them to trust the people they are becoming.

For us, Raluca is also part of the living memory of KTIS. One of the people who has been here since the beginning and who continues to grow alongside the school, with the same curiosity and open heart.

This is Raluca: a Primary School Mentor and one of the people who helped make KTIS what it is today.

Sunt oameni care intră într-o școală mai târziu și oameni care cresc odată cu ea.
Raluca este dintre cei din a doua categorie.

În 2020, alături de Monica Cojan, a fost acolo în primele minute ale centrului, lângă primii copii, la începutul unei povești care avea să devină Knowledge Tree International School.

De atunci, au crescut multe în jurul ei. Clase, generații, proiecte, o întreagă comunitate. Dar un lucru a rămas la fel: felul în care Raluca este cu copiii.

Raluca nu joacă un rol în fața lor. Este sinceră, deschisă și prezentă. Se vede pe chipul ei când se bucură, când ceva o emoționează, când este curioasă sau când caută, împreună cu un copil, un răspuns. Poate tocmai de aceea copiii o iubesc atât de firesc: pentru că simt că omul din fața lor este adevărat.

Este fascinată de transformările prin care trec copiii și de felul lor unic de a vedea lumea. Îi însoțește cu sensibilitate, dar și cu structură, le oferă spațiu să fie ei înșiși și îi încurajează să aibă încredere în cine devin.

Pentru noi, Raluca este și o parte din memoria vie a KTIS. Unul dintre oamenii care au fost aici de la început și care continuă să crească împreună cu școala, cu aceeași curiozitate și aceeași inimă deschisă.

Ea este Raluca. Mentor la ciclul primar și unul dintre oamenii care au pus suflet în KTIS încă din prima zi.

🇬🇧 A child does not learn simply because something is explained well. Learning deepens when a child feels safe enough to ask, make mistakes and try again. At KTIS, wellbeing is not a separate programme - it is part of how we build learning.

🇷🇴 Un copil nu învață doar pentru că i se explică bine. Învață mai bine când se simte suficient de sigur încât să întrebe, să greșească și să încerce din nou. De aceea, la KTIS, wellbeing-ul nu este o activitate separată - este parte din felul în care construim învățarea.

🇬🇧 The first days of school always come with many emotions, for children and adults alike.

It was wonderful to see them finding one another again, continuing old friendships and beginning new ones. We were especially touched by the care with which the children welcomed their new classmates, including those who do not yet speak Romanian. Sometimes, children show us in the simplest way what it means to make room for someone beside you.

At Knowledge Tree International School, we do not usually begin the school year with formal assemblies or ceremonies. The first day already comes with enough emotions: “Does my hair look okay?”, “Will she still want to be my friend?”, “Will I manage?”

That is why, for us, the beginning of the school year is first and foremost about them, and for them.

Together, we revisited the school and playground rules, settled into new classrooms, met new teachers and mentors, and gradually began to find our rhythm for the year ahead.

We are happy to have you with us and we wish everyone a year filled with confidence, curiosity, friendship and the joy of learning.

🇷🇴 Primele zile de școală vin întotdeauna cu multe emoții, atât pentru copii, cât și pentru adulți.

Ne-a bucurat să îi vedem regăsindu-se, continuând prietenii vechi și legând unele noi. Ne-a impresionat mai ales grija cu care copiii i-au primit pe colegii noi, inclusiv pe cei care încă nu vorbesc limba română. Uneori, cei mici ne amintesc cel mai simplu ce înseamnă să faci loc cuiva lângă tine.

La Knowledge Tree International School nu obișnuim să începem anul cu careuri sau momente formale. Prima zi are deja suficiente emoții: „Oare îmi stă bine părul?”, „Mai vrea să fie prietena mea?”, „O să mă descurc?”.

De aceea, pentru noi, începutul de an este înainte de toate despre ei și pentru ei.

Am reluat împreună regulile școlii și ale curții, ne-am acomodat cu clasele noi, cu profesorii și mentorii și am început, încet, să intrăm în ritmul unui nou an.

Ne bucurăm că sunteți alături de noi și vă dorim tuturor un an cu cât mai multă încredere, curiozitate, prietenie și bucurie de a învăța.
