Congratulations to Texas A&M University at Qatar alumnus Hassan Khan ’23 on receiving the IMechE Young Members Award 2025 for Developing Engineer of the Year.

Recognized for his impactful contributions to offshore mechanical engineering and his commitment to professional excellence, Hassan exemplifies the Aggie spirit in action. From contributing to R&D initiatives in Germany to representing multiple departments at the rig site, he continues to demonstrate adaptability, leadership and technical distinction.

Recently earning his master’s degree in Subsea Engineering from Texas A&M University, Hassan remains committed to advancing the field and inspiring the next generation of engineers.

The Petroleum Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar hosted the PETE Annual Senior Student Paper Contest, sponsored by ExxonMobil, where 24 undergraduate petroleum engineering students presented their research to a panel of judges composed of industry partners and alumni.

The contest serves as more than a competition. It provides students with a valuable platform to strengthen their technical writing and presentation skills, preparing them for success in their professional careers.

Congratulations to the seniors for an outstanding showcase of research and professionalism. First place was awarded to Jihad Bakrim, Saleh Almarri and Hala Shadid. Second place honors went to Saleh Al-Mohannadi, Mazen Bouhssas and Noor Al-Hamdaney.

Special gratitude to the industry judges for their time and valuable feedback, and to the faculty and staff whose efforts made the event possible.

Aggie Fatima Al-Janahi ’20 was one of Texas A&M University at Qatar’s winners at the Amir’s Education Excellence Award 2026, receiving the Gold Medal in the Master’s Degree Holders category in recognition of her outstanding academic and research achievements. .

Al-Janahi completed a research-focused master’s degree from Texas A&M University’s flagship campus in College Station and is currently pursuing a Ph.D., with multiple publications and scholarly contributions to her field. During her undergraduate studies, she received the Undergraduate Research Scholars Outstanding Thesis Award and was consistently named to the Dean’s Honor Roll.

Beyond academia, she is also an entrepreneur, reflecting her commitment to innovation, leadership and impact beyond the classroom.

The other TAMUQ winner was Roudha Saif Al-Khaldi ’25.

Roudha Saif Al-Khaldi ’25 was one of Texas A&M University at Qatar’s winners at the Amir’s Education Excellence Award 2026, receiving the Gold Award for University Graduates at the undergraduate level in recognition of her academic excellence, leadership and service.

Al-Khaldi was previously honored with the Qatar Foundation Excellence Award 2025 for outstanding academic performance, innovation and dedication to student life and was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll in Spring 2025.

She was also a member of the Shell Eco-Marathon team, a joint initiative between Texas A&M University at Qatar and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, which received the Safety Award at the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia-Pacific and Middle East 2025.

In addition, she was recognized as the TAMUQ Electrical and Computer Engineering Student of the Year 2025.

The other TAMUQ winner was Fatima Ali Al-Janahi ’20.

The Class of 2026 celebrated the start of the countdown to graduation during their Senior Walk, a symbolic journey around Education City and the Texas A&M Engineering Building.

Initiated by the Student Government Association’s Traditions Council, the event is inspired by the Elephant Walk tradition at the College Station campus. The walk gives students a moment to reflect on their university journey, cherish friendships, and celebrate memories made along the way.

The Senior Walk has become a cherished TAMUQ tradition, allowing students to honor their time at the university while looking forward to the bright futures ahead.
