THE 4th Industry Integrated Engineering Education Workshop titled ''Impact of the industry 4.0 transformation on Engineering Education'' was held at Qatar University with the participation of industrials, government and academics experts.
Industry 4.0 refers to the fourth industrial revolution. It calls for a dynamic transformation of how all aspects of business and production are done. A new wave of global technology will change global production. Internationalization, in all aspects of business and industry, will be the norm. Countries can no longer remain confined within their borders but must become citizens of the world. Leaders in this new era will need to be critical thinkers, problem solvers, and be able to interact across the globe. In short, they need to be liberally educated.
The workshop was a good opportunity to discuss many important points as;
1. Will Industry 4.0 provoke disruptive change?
2. What is the impact on education and industry
3. What is the role of universities regarding this revolution?
4. What is the Industry 4.0 revolution needs to be shaped?
5. What does mean Industry 4.0 in Qatar and the Gulf region?
6. What are the support system transformations (Smart girds? smart cities? smart mobility? etc.)
The workshop is part of Research Transformation through the Fourth Industrial Revolution Challenges and Social Innovation Conference

3rd Industry Integrated Engineering and Computing Education
Curriculum Workshop
Qatar University, 2-3 Oct. 2017
The workshop was focused on Alumni; we estimated that their opinion is highly important because they are in the right position to give feedback on their experience and to identify possible challenges and gaps they may have faced when they joined their workplaces. During the session, the list of industry requirements that was the output of the second workshop was further discussed and refined with Alumni and our industry.
