✳️Practice self-talk that promotes CONFIDENCE and ENCOURAGEMENT.

🤨Is insulin bad?

NO… Insulin is essential to life. What’s bad is TOO MUCH INSULIN (TMI) and INSULIN RESISTANCE (IR).

❓What happens with TMI and IR?
Many of the normal functions become excessive, leading to chronic diseases.

❓How do we get TMI and IR?
By eating the wrong foods excessively and repeatedly.

❓Which foods are the worst for this?
Processed, sugary foods and refined carbs.

❓What are the consequences of TMI and IR?
Obesity, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, chronic inflammation, heart diseases, kidney diseases, dementia, cancer, PCOS, acne, fatty liver, etc.

🧐Insulin plays a major role in salt absorption by the kidneys. Insulin is supposed to rise and fall based on food and drinks. But with TMI, salt absorption becomes excessive, leading to salt and fluid retention, which is a major cause of high blood pressure.

If this is sustained long-term, cue the addition of a diabetes diagnosis.

Like most chronic metabolic diseases, reversal is possible.

🙌🏽Are you ready to redefine YOUR personal image of what it means to be fit?

📆Over the past 20+ years, how I define fitness for myself has evolved. I grew up in the era where “skinny fit” was the measure of health. Hence my appearance in Feb 2015.

🥰 I am SOOOO glad I chose to take control of my well-being and challenged my body to grow muscle. After all, that is what creates curves (aka ‘toned’), helps my body use more calories (even when resting), supports my joints, and helps me age gracefully.

😱 I didn’t even know my body was capable of these changes until I tried something NEW.

❌This is your reminder to STOP being cruel to yourself. Stop beating yourself down through over-exercise, food restrictions, and limiting beliefs. Don’t allow your quality of life to SUFFER.

🔑 Many of your fitness frustrations would be reduced if you gave yourself 1-2 YEARS to stay committed instead of 1-2 months. There’d be less stress and pressure which lets you enjoy the process.

✋🏼Don’t get more wrong…

I’m not saying these fad diets never work. I’m saying they only work short-term.

But living a healthy lifestyle isn’t a fad or a short-term thing. It’s a lifelong journey that requires modifying habits and your relationship with food.

💚Here are six steps to take instead:

🔅Build habits towards lasting behavior change and developing a healthy, feel good relationship with food.

🔅Focus on health promoting behaviors. This includes letting go of dieting rules as a way to impose self control.

🔅Connect to how hunger and fullness actually feels to you. This can be a powerful tool in learning to trust yourself around trigger foods.

🔅Give yourself permission to eat all foods. This may sound scary, but remember, it’s restrictions that make you feel out of control with food.

🔅Respect your body by treating it with dignity and meeting its most basic needs: enough food, water, warmth, movement, and rest.

🔅Foster body acceptance or body neutrality. Being “fit” is NOT a body type. A healthy body comes in many shapes and sizes.

🙋🏽‍♀️As a coach, I believe it’s important to create programs for clients that not only focuses on resistance training, but also promotes habit change to improve self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-sufficiency in all areas.
