The Georgetown Leadership Ambassadors and Al Liwan Club collaborated to provide you with a Georgetown Ghabga! Students gathered with their peers, cousins and siblings and enjoyed an eventful night! ✨🌙
Why was this a special event?
What is special about this Ghabga is that it will closely coincide with Garangao (the day after the event), which falls on the 14th day and the 15th night of Ramadan -- marking the midway point of the Holy Month. Garangao is something particular to the Gulf (other countries have their own celebrations marking the half-way point) and is believed to have its roots in the pearl-diving tradition of the region. On this night, children trot in their thobes and jalabiyas and knock on every door in their neighbourhood, which will be ready to receive them with sweets and nuts.

✨GEORGETOWN INTERNATIONAL BALL 2023✨
The international ball is a School of Foreign Service tradition made to commemorate Georgetown University’s tradition and legacy in international affairs.
Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to host this event in the past three years due to the pandemic, but we came back this year better and stronger than ever!
This year's theme was 'Moonlight.' 🌙
With its waxing and waning, the moon is a sign of constant change and the passing and returning of seasons.
🌖🌗🌘🌑🌒🌓🌔
After years of change and uncertainty with COVID, we want to celebrate new beginnings and also our return to our Georgetown traditions.
The memorable night was filled with joy, killer dance moves, and amazing food! 🤍

As part of the Georgetown Leadership Track reflection activities, our Hoyas went kayaking in the Mangroves, participated in a beach clean-up, learned about the history of this natural environment that has been a great attraction for tourists during the World Cup and continues to be a place with a long and significant history for the country!
We also encountered some very cute crabs and fish along the way! 🦀 🐟

Last Thursday, our Hoyas visited the recently reopened Museum of Islamic Art to explore the masterpieces of Islamic art from three continents and over 1,400 years. Afterwards, they went on a stroll around MIA park to check out contemporary Yayoi Kusama's outdoor exhibition. Kusama's My Soul Blooms Forever is the largest outdoor exhibition of its kind to take place in the Gulf region.
