Vivendo pelo mundo, uma nova casa por temporada.

Not every temporary rental comes with a piano. This one did. An old upright, in a flat I ended up staying in for three months. I didn't touch it for the first few days.

Then it became a ritual, almost without deciding: hands on the keys most mornings or nights. I found a book with Bizet's Les pêcheurs de perles, my dad's favourite piece, on the instrument my grandmother inspired me to learn how to play. The piece is a duet about a promise made before they knew what it would cost. The same melody returns at the very end, to prove it held.

What took weeks wasn't remembering how to play. It was letting the moments I was only borrowing start to feel like home.

There are sounds that seem to become a bridge, reaching what is too far away to touch in any other way.
I don't know if that's true. I do know that once I let myself go, time and distance don't matter.
They're only elemental.
Last night, somewhere else, something reached across the distance and time again. And I only know that I woke up certain it happened.

That's magick.

When was the last time it felt like magick to you?

If I could speak to the 22-year-old who embarked on that backpack trip, I would tell her it would become much more than a journey.

It would deepen her connection with Venezuela and change the way she saw the world forever.

I would tell her to pay attention, not only to the places, but also to the crossings, the people and the unexpected.

One day, she would understand that the journey was not simply taking her somewhere else. It was teaching her how she wanted to live.

Back then, the photographs took nearly two weeks to be developed, but the best moments were never captured. They seldom are.

Eighteen hours on a bus through the Amazon rainforest. Sleeping in hammocks aboard a boat on the Amazon River. Watching the dark waters of the Rio Negro meet the lighter waters of the Solimões River, to become the Amazon River. Changing course to avoid a storm. Meeting friends along the way. Sharing a deserted white-sand beach where the water glowed with bioluminescence, a concert in Belém do Pará, and moments that would remain long after the photographs began to fade.

Life moves in cycles, and everything is transformation.

For over 5,000 years, the stones of Kilmartin Glen have remained. Once a place of gathering and celebration, centuries later they became a place of memory and farewell.

They stayed — but their purpose changed.

Maybe starting over is not leaving everything behind.

Maybe it is giving new meaning to what still stands.

Specialty coffee from Jacutinga region, Minas Gerais.

Sweet, balanced, and elegant, with a profile similar to my favourite classic Mogiana coffees.

In the cup, it brings comforting notes, a smooth body, and delicate acidity, easy to love, yet full of character.

Thanks to Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters from Liverpool.
