Two days. Multiple perspectives. One shared goal: advancing Patient and Public Involvement in Interprofessional Education.

On 29–30 October 2026, we’ll bring together patients and Experts by Experience, students, educators, researchers and healthcare professionals for a programme built around dialogue, evidence, lived experience and collaboration.

🔎 What can you expect?

Day 1 will take us through the past, present and future of PULPIT — from international perspectives on PPI and IPE to the findings and implementation of the PULPIT project, round tables with Experts by Experience, patient stories and opportunities for discussion and reflection.

Day 2 will broaden the conversation, with selected abstracts, a keynote on the present and future of PPI in IPE, theatre, international projects and an interactive workshop dedicated to planning what comes next.

Because the future of healthcare education shouldn't be shaped from just one perspective.

🌍 PULPIT was proud to contribute to the EULAR 2026 European Congress of Rheumatology in London through the EULAR Joint Session: "Learning from the Real Experts: Patient and Public Voices in Health Professional Education."

During the session, Ricardo Ferreira, PULPIT Project Coordinator, presented "Time to Learn from Patients? The Science Behind Public and Patient Involvement in Health Professional Education," highlighting the evidence supporting meaningful Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in the education of future healthcare professionals.

Dante Mulder also contributed with the presentation "Patient Voices in the Classroom: Co-Education in Practice," showcasing practical approaches to involving patients and families as partners in health professional education.

The session explored how institutions can embed and evaluate PPI across curricula, the value of lived experience in healthcare education, and strategies for building sustainable and inclusive models of collaboration.

Thank you to EULAR for providing a platform to advance the conversation on patient-centred healthcare education.

🌍 PULPIT was proud to contribute to the 18th Nordic Conference on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice, held on 4–5 June 2026 at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø.

Matthijs Bosveld (Maastricht University, The Netherlands) delivered the keynote lecture "Untying the Gordian Knot that is Patient and Public Involvement in Interprofessional Education" and also took part in the conference panel discussion, sharing insights into the opportunities and challenges of embedding meaningful Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in health professions education.

The conference also featured the poster "International Recommendations for Patient and Public Involvement in Interprofessional Education: A Delphi Study", presenting collaborative work developed within the PULPIT consortium.

It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with the international IPE community and continue advancing patient-centred, collaborative approaches to healthcare education.
