Na Herdade Monte Silveira Farm acreditamos que, quando regeneramos o solo, regeneramos o futuro.

O 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝘂𝗯 é o nosso novo espaço dedicado à agricultura regenerativa, um local onde agricultores, investigadores e estudantes se juntam para experimentar, aprender e partilhar soluções que regeneram o solo e restauram os ecossistemas.

Em parceria com a e , ligando 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶́𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗼, 𝗽𝗿𝗮́𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶́𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗮 𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗰̧𝗮̃𝗼, trabalhamos para:
🌾 regenerar o solo
🐝 aumentar a biodiversidade
💧 melhorar a retenção de água
🌍 construir sistemas agrícolas mais resilientes

Através de investigação, workshops, estágios e experimentação em campo, queremos desenvolver 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗼𝘀 que possam inspirar e ser replicados noutras regiões.

🌱 Soil Sampling for Soil Health & Regenerative Practices at Monte Silveira Farm

🌾 At Monte Silveira Farm, soil health is where everything begins. This week, we are conducting detailed soil sampling to better understand the living foundation beneath our crops and to guide our regenerative management decisions.

🪱 The photo captures a simple but powerful moment: a soil sample freshly collected in the field, with a visible earthworm moving through the soil profile. That earthworm is more than just a detail. It’s a sign of biological activity, organic matter, and a functioning soil ecosystem. Living roots, active microorganisms, and soil fauna are key indicators that regeneration is happening below the surface.

🔬 Why soil sampling matters:
• Measure organic matter and carbon levels
• Assess nutrient balance
• Evaluate soil structure and compaction
• Monitor biological activity
• Guide regenerative interventions

👩‍🌾 Our regenerative approach includes:
• Cover crops to protect and feed the soil
• Minimal disturbance practices
• Increasing plant diversity
• Supporting microbial and soil life
• Building long-term resilience and carbon sequestration

Healthy soil improves water retention, reduces erosion risk, strengthens crop resilience, and contributes to climate-positive farming.

Regeneration starts underground, and every sample tells a story.

🌿 Monte Silveira no Seminário CNADS “Restauro da Natureza” 🌿

No passado dia 24 de fevereiro, a Herdade Monte Silveira participou no Seminário “Restauro da Natureza”, promovido pelo Conselho Nacional do Ambiente e do Desenvolvimento Sustentável (CNADS), no âmbito dos trabalhos preparatórios do Plano Nacional de Restauro da Natureza, enquadrado pelo Regulamento (UE) 2024/1991.

Partilhámos a nossa experiência no terreno, destacando os objetivos e resultados do projeto, os principais desafios, o modelo de gestão e financiamento, bem como as oportunidades e constrangimentos identificados.

Foi um momento importante de reflexão e contributo para a construção de um plano ambicioso, realista e alinhado com a realidade dos territórios.

A candidatura à bolsa de estágio em agricultura regenerativa é dirigida a estudantes, agricultores e técnicos com conhecimentos teóricos básicos em agricultura regenerativa e interesse em adquirir experiência prática na implementação de produções hortícolas, arvenses, permanentes e/ou de produção animal.

🌍 Celebrating World Soil Day 2024

🧑‍🌾 At Monte Silveira Farm, soil is at the heart of everything we do and this week offered two inspiring opportunities to reinforce our commitment to healthy, resilient, and regenerative landscapes.

🏢 On Wednesday, 3 December, we took part in the SOILL Event: “Shaping the Future of Soil Health Living Labs and Lighthouses in Europe.”, proudly representing the GroundWork Project in the European Committee of the Regions.
It was a rich day of exchange with Living Labs across Europe, bringing valuable insights into current soil-related challenges, lessons learned on the ground, and the pathways needed to strengthen impactful soil-focused innovation ecosystems by 2030.
The afternoon continued with engaging sessions on the role of EU Missions in policy development, the contribution of innovative solutions, and panel discussions on anchoring Living Labs within policy frameworks while leveraging soil data for effective implementation.

📚 Today, we also had the pleasure of presenting at the Escola Superior Agrária do Instituto Politécnico de Castelo Branco in celebration of World Soil Day and the institution’s 42nd anniversary. What a happy and beautiful coincidence!
Our talk focused on soil health and regenerative farming, highlighting the work of the Alliance and reinforcing the essential role soils play in agricultural development, ecosystem services, and global food security.

✨ Healthy soils are the foundation of resilient food systems and thriving ecosystems. We’re proud to contribute to this movement and excited for the collaborative work ahead.

🐑 Kicking Off the GroundWork Project! 🚀

Soil health is the foundation of our food systems, our environment, and our well-being. Yet 60–70% of EU soils are degraded, costing an estimated €50 billion each year. The main culprits? Unsustainable farming practices and the growing pressures of climate change.

At the same time, intensive livestock farming, while vital to Europe’s economy, contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, water pollution, and soil degradation.

That’s why we’re excited to launch GroundWork, a new EU project dedicated to promoting regenerative livestock grazing practices across diverse regions of Europe.

Through five living labs, GroundWork will:
🌾 Co-design sustainable grazing solutions with farmers and local stakeholders
🐐 Test innovative practices that restore soil health and biodiversity
💶 Support the transition through financial incentives and practical tools
