The Representative of India-Designate met Ms. Layali Khatib—the first female astrophysicist from Jenin, Palestine—and Mr. Samed Alhajajla, team leader from Meshka Space, ahead of their journey to India for the prestigious 18th International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad at the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR, Mumbai—an aided institute under the Department of Atomic Energy.

Excited to represent Palestine, they look forward to joining bright minds from over 70 countries, engaging in scientific exchange, and exploring future collaboration with India’s vibrant space technology sector.

This inspiring interaction reflects our shared commitment to building bridges between the youth of India and Palestine, deepening historic ties, and reaffirming India’s steadfast role in supporting capacity building and skill development for Palestinian youth.

التقت سفيرة الهند (المكلفة) بالسيدة ليالي الخطيب — أول عالمة فيزياء فلكية فلسطينية من جنين وبالسيد صامد الحجاجلة قائد فريق مشكاة، قبيل رحلتهما إلى الهند للمشاركة في الدورة الثامنة عشرة لأولمبياد علوم الفضاء والفيزياء الفلكية الدولي، التي تُعقد في مركز هومي بهابها العلمي في مومباي، وهي مؤسسة مدعومة من وزارة الطاقة الذرية الهندية.

وقد أعربا عن حماسهما لتمثيل فلسطين، وتطلعهما للانضمام إلى نخبة من العقول اللامعة من أكثر من 70 دولة، والمشاركة في التبادل العلمي، واستكشاف آفاق التعاون المستقبلي مع قطاع الفضاء الهندي المتطور.

For the first time in the history of Palestine’s participation, five Palestinian students have qualified for the pre-final stage of one of the most prestigious and challenging international competitions in astronomy and astrophysics!

Through just one year of intensive training under the Space for Palestine program — supported by meshka Foundation — these brilliant students have proven that passion for science.

Among the students , Omar Shatat scored 24.5 out of 25, and Othman Jabr received an Honour. At the same time, the rest of the team (Khaled Hamad, Lamar Qasarwa, and Balqees Azzam Abo Adibs) achieved very high scores.

Palestine Wins Two Honorable Mentions at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Australia.

The Palestinian team achieved a remarkable accomplishment in its participation at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2025), held this year in Sunshine Coast, Australia. Two students — Karam Al-Kurd from Gaza and Kareem Kaid from Nablus — were awarded honorable mentions in recognition of their outstanding performance in this prestigious global competition.

They were joined by fellow teammates Abdullah Al-Shurabini and Adham Salman, who secured valuable points that contributed to the overall ranking of the Palestinian team.

This year’s edition also marked a historic milestone: the first-ever participation of a Palestinian girl in the history of the IMO — Leen Nawahda, whom we proudly salute for her pioneering and honorable presence.

The Palestinian delegation was led by Dr. Mousa Alrefaya, Dean of the College of Dual Studies at Palestine Polytechnic University,
and Mr. Samed Alhajajla, Director and Founder of Meshka.

We also extend our deep appreciation to our strategic partners, .space, whose support was instrumental in enabling Palestine’s participation in this global scientific event.

حقق الفريق الفلسطيني إنجازًا مشرفًا في أولمبياد الرياضيات العالمي لعام 2025، والذي أُقيم مؤخرًا في أستراليا، بحصوله على جائزتين بميزات شرفية، في خطوة تعكس التقدم الملحوظ في قدرات الطلبة الفلسطينيين في مجال حل المشكلات الرياضية.
وقد نال كل من الطالب كرم الكرد من غزة، وكريم كايد من نابلس، جوائز ميزات شرف عن أدائهما المتميز في المسابقة، فيما قدّم كل من الطلبة عبدالله الشربيني، وأدهم سلمان أداءً قويًا أسهم في رفع رصيد الفريق الفلسطيني من النقاط.

وسجلت فلسطين هذا العام مشاركة تاريخية، بمشاركة أول فتاة فلسطينية في أولمبياد الرياضيات العالمي، وهي الطالبة لين نواهضة، التي نُحيي مشاركتها اللافتة ودورها الريادي في تمثيل الطالبات الفلسطينيات في المحافل العلمية الدولية.

قاد الفريق الفلسطيني هذا العام كل من الدكتور موسى الرفاعية وصامد الحجاجلة، ضمن جهود مشتركة وداعمة ساهمت في تحضير الطلبة للمنافسة العالمية. نحيي شريكنا الاستراتيجي فينيكس سبيس الذين لعبوا دورًا مهمًا في دعم الفريق وتمكين مشاركة الفريق.

في الثالث والعشرين من الشهر الماضي تم عقد اول لقاء تدريبي من تدريب
“meshka - Palestine Math Olympiad - Math Uprising Training for Advanced Math Olympiad-Level Students.”
والذي يهدف الى تدريب الطلاب ذو المستوى الرياضي العالي للاستعداد للمشاركة في الاولمبياد العالمي للرياضيات للعام القادم والذي سيقام في استراليا من الفترة 10-20 من شهر يوليو القادم حيث يتنافس اكثر من 600 طالب من 120 دولة مختلفة.
يتم عقد التدريب بتعاون مع المدرب تحسين, متسابق سابق في الاولمبياد العالمي للرياضيات, درس البكالوريوس والماجستر في (Stanford, Berkeley).
ينضم الينا في هذا التدريب مجموعة من الطلبة المبدعين:

تعلن مشكاة عن توفر 6 منح دراسية لدرجة العلمية “بكالوريوس” في اسبانيا (يتم اعلان اسماء الجامعات لاحقاً) وذلك لطلبتها المميزين مع الاولوية لطلبتها بغزة

من غير المهم اذا كان الطالب قد انهى دراسته الثانوية حيث سيتم قبول الطلبة في المرحلة الثانوية (من عاشر الى التوجيهي) ورفعهم الى درجة البكالوريوس مباشر. الأولوية ستكون للطلبة الذين اظهروا تميز في مجال حل المشكلات. على من يرى نفسه مؤهلاً للمنحة التواصل معنا من خلال الصفحة.

ملاحظة: الأولوية ستكون لطلبتنا في غزة

Meshka announces the availability of 6 scholarships for a Bachelor's degree in Spain (the names of the universities will be announced later) for its distinguished students, with priority given to its students in Gaza.

It does not matter if the student has completed his secondary education, as students will be accepted in the secondary stage (from tenth to Tawjihi) and promoted directly to the Bachelor's degree. Priority will be given to students who have demonstrated excellence in the field of problem solving. Anyone who sees himself qualified for the scholarship should contact us through the page.

Note: Priority will be given to our students in Gaza

𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 of the Financial Times.

Hasan told me, "𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱, 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲." Hasan is consistent with practice despite the ongoing genocide of his people. Karam and Hasan are training for the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) from a tent, sharing a phone with 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 family members. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 how important the IMO is for their future; many former IMO participants go on to become leaders in their respective fields, including academia and industry, winning scholarships from the top universities in the world, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 recognition and prestige for being the best 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 country in mathematics. They fight 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 to make it and represent 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲.

As IMO 2024 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝘇𝗮, this year marks the first 𝗕𝗗𝗦 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 taking place at any Sciences Olympiad, where the global community recognizes the importance of keeping educational and innovative spaces free from GENOCIDE. Social activists have come together to advocate for the protection of these spaces, emphasizing that fostering innovation is essential for the future of our youth and must remain unhindered by violence.

If you read the PISA 2022 report for Palestine, you know that we have a long way to go in reforming the education system, especially in mathematics. Watching Meshka grow from a small project 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 fostering and helping thousands of young, curious Palestinian talents, I envision the day we scale it for millions of Palestinians in the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮.
