Today, Wednesday, 18 December 2024, the Islamic University of Gaza (IUG) unveiled its campaign titled “Together.. For Higher Education Resilience”. The initiative seeks to draw attention to the immense destruction and losses inflicted on the university’s infrastructure and resources.

The Islamic University invites its staff, students, and the wider community to support and participate in this vital campaign. Together, we aim to bolster the resilience of higher education by providing the necessary resources and a conducive learning environment amidst the ongoing aggression in Gaza.

The Central Library, the largest academic library in Gaza, housing over 240,000 invaluable books, journals, theses, and references, has been reduced to rubble. Decades of learning erased in moments, leaving a void that will be felt for generations.

Destruction of Scientific Laboratories and Computer Labs:

MORE THAN 200 state-of-the-art scientific laboratories and facilities were obliterated.
IN ADDITION TO 75 computer labs essential for students across all disciplines.

Destroyed Educational Buildings and Classrooms at the Islamic University

Destruction of 19 major educational buildings across the university’s three campuses.
Destruction of 500 classrooms that once housed thousands of students.

Chronology of Attacks on the Islamic University of Gaza:

09 October 2023: Damage to several buildings due to airstrikes.
11 October 2023: Targeting of eight buildings in Gaza City.
08 December 2023: Blowing up the university campus and the Faculty of Medicine building located in the central area of the Gaza Strip.
January 2024: Extensive damages to the university campus in the southern area of the Gaza Strip.
