Have you ever looked in the mirror and felt like a stranger to your own skin? Maybe you’ve lost that spark of confidence, or the "feminine divine" feels more like a distant memory than a daily reality.
We all have those moments where we feel disconnected—but let me tell you how I found my way back.
Dance hasn't just been a hobby for me; it has saved my life more times than I can count.
My journey over the last 26 years wasn't a straight line or a polished studio floor. Growing up, we didn’t have the resources for professional lessons. Before the world of YouTube and instant tutorials, I had to get creative. My "teachers" were MTV, Michael Jackson, and Madonna. I spent hours in front of a mirror, replaying their moves in my mind and trying to imitate them. Back then, I thought I was terrible—but looking back, I realize my heart was already dancing; I just had to learn how to follow its lead.
I’ll never forget the "Holy Week" of my childhood. It was a time of so many rules and restrictions, but I would wait patiently through the old religious movies for one specific thing: the bellydancers. The moment they appeared on screen, I was mesmerized. That was the exact second I fell in love.
Bellydance became my sanctuary. It didn’t just teach me a skill; it helped me recover my self-esteem and my security. There is something truly magical about the way you carry yourself when you finally connect with yourself.
If you are a dancer or a woman longing to reconnect with your body and reclaim your power, know that the rhythm is already inside you. You don't need a fancy studio to start—you just need the courage to feel it.
How has movement helped you find yourself again? I’d love to hear your story in the comments. ✨
