We’re back! 🍁

We’re already well into the new school year, and all our new friends are settling in so beautifully.

Our mornings are filled with a gentle hum of activity as the children explore materials from every area of the classroom. It’s wonderful to see their excitement, curiosity and enthusiasm as they find their rhythm!

Welcome back to our returning families … and a very warm welcome to everyone joining Maple Tree this year! 💛

Back to preschool is getting closer! 🌿

Right now, Maple Tree looks a little less like a preschool and a little more like a workshop. 😄

Shelves are being painted, walls are getting a refresh, every little corner is being cleaned and cared for, and our shelves are slowly filling up again! There’s something very special about getting the classrooms ready after the summer break.

We can’t wait to welcome everyone back and see the kids start working with all the freshly prepared materials waiting for them! 💛

“My child is too active for Montessori.”

Actually, active children are exactly why Montessori works.

Concentration doesn’t come from sitting still.

It grows through movement, repetition, challenge, and purposeful activity.

Every toddler is capable of deep focus… we just have to give them the opportunity to develop it!

🍒🌳 Thanks to two of our amazing families, last week our children had the chance to be harnessed (safety first!) and lifted into the cherry tree to pick fruit straight from the branches!

The kids had an incredible time, and there was no end to the smiles and laughter!

Thank you for giving our kids such a memorable adventure, we’d love to do it again!❤️🍒

We’re taking full advantage of the bright sunshine and cooler weather, spending our days enjoying everything our garden has to offer … from quiet chats with friends and bringing indoor games outside to observing the plants that are growing all around us! 🌿☀️

The best sensory bins don’t stay pretty for long. 😃

They’re not untouched trays curated for adults.
They’re not activities children are afraid to ruin.

We want our sensory work to be USED. Explored. Mixed. Smeared. Experienced. 🥰

Because children learn best when they are free to fully engage their senses … without worrying about making a mess. 🤩

And honestly? The mess usually means the learning was meaningful. 💚

This morning’s oranges didn’t just make a delicious juice! 🍊

The kids carried the peels from the oranges they squeezed in the classroom out into the garden, and transformed them into fragrant “potions” and “soups” outside.

The smell was amazing as they squeezed, mixed, and poured under the brilliant sun!! ☀️
