The Department of Integration Processes is pleased to invite scholars, researchers and practitioners to participate in the:
✨ VIRTUAL SCIENTIFIC SEMINAR ✨
“The Role of the State in Counteracting the Legal, Organisational and Technological Determinants of Discrimination: New Challenges in the Sphere of Social Security”
🔗 “A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.”
These words by William James remain strikingly relevant in the security environment of the twenty-first century. Today, the resilience of the state depends not only on military strength, but also on its ability to respond to social vulnerabilities, exclusion, inequality and systemic discrimination.
The seminar will create space for a scholarly debate on the role of the state as a guarantor of security in the face of contemporary challenges such as migration, digital exclusion, social tensions, minority quotas, human trafficking, systemic bias and algorithmic discrimination.
📌 Papers and presentation topics include:
• Challenges to state security caused by migration movements
• Multidimensional challenges related to the issue of human trafficking
• Digital exclusion as a challenge in the area of social security
• Minority quotas as a tool for managing social security
• Social tensions and their impact on state security
• Examples of legal discrimination and their implications for state security
• The dangers of systemic bias
• Technology in the service of equality
• Algorithms and AI systems as sources of discrimination.
