Solstice 2026 – Art Program

The selected artists in this year’s open call have been invited to decipher the shifting states of being, stillness and temperature of midsummer. Held in a landscape where light stretches without hesitation, this year the festival carries attention to the theme of ‘Transformation’.

Artists reflect on the movement of time: how it gathers, disperses, evaporates, or holds us in endless loops.

In a world where images pierce through us and thus become a performance - transformation invites us to an experience beyond our screens. It is within the motion and intention that we invite artistic responses. Works may engage with these ideas in ways that feel intimate, expansive and playful.

About the art works:
The journey starts with Reivi-Nalle, our cute bear with the perfect nook. Reivi-Nalle invites us to explore the relationship between rest and dance in rave culture.

Dance and rest are forms of rebellion—elements we rarely have the indulgence to practice.

From Reivi-Nalle, we walk to Neverender. Its wide mirrors not only reflect us back, but also reflect the landscape around us, reminding us that there is a world beyond the screens we usually dive into.

Kites fly above us, welcoming us to Tuulikki, where the artists are present and invite us to play. They will hold a kite workshop, encouraging us to observe the blue sky with its endless sun and let the kite carry us with the wind.

Speaking of wind, there are memories carried in the air. A familiar, soothing smoke invites us to Connection Point, where a ritual will be held at 20:00. It welcomes us to have a bite, a rest, a moment.
