Poring over books and discussing theory is great but don’t be fooled that our society’s activity ends there…
Indeed, recently we had the opportunity to explore the Speech Imaging Laboratory at our faculty, and see its cutting-edge equipment at work 🔍
A sincere thank you to dr Łukaszewicz, the society supervisor for the invitation!

Good morning to fanatics and friends alike!
Last week we had the opportunity to learn more about the different systems of transcription (we still love you, IPA), as well as to practice this knowledge in a cutthroat board game competition ⚔️
Stay tuned to see what we have planned next… 👀

Do you want to learn more about phonetics and phonology, but don’t know where to start? Or maybe you’re simply intrigued by the topic, and would like to explore it in a friendly, cooperative setting?
If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, then Fanatics and Phonology is the place for you!
We are a student society open to anyone interested in the field of phonetics and phonology, as well as in other areas of theoretical and empirical linguistics, such as sociolinguistics, syntax, or diachronic changes (historical linguistics). During our meetings we discuss selected publications, including handbooks on linguistics, e.g. “The Sounds of Language: An Introduction to Phonetics and Phonology” by Elizabeth Zsiga. We are also organising a series of invited talks, called “As We Speak”, featuring researchers of various fields within theoretical and empirical linguistics.
