Hello!
That is the next story in our little, cozy school. You are always welcome😊☕
Read with attention🤫🎩🪄
🐿️Special honey pie and squirrel🐿️
It was smelling cinnamon all around here. Vanilla and cinnamon. Mom was making honey pie while my sister and I were running in the kitchen playing catch-up. It was in the summer when apple flowers were already faded. But it was getting cooler and the wind from the open door was flying in faster and it was so much colder than when mommy started cooking.
- Lilly, maybe close the door, it will rain soon probably.
- Okay!
I jumped up and my ponytail did it with me. That looked so funny that our mom unwillingly smiled.
- You are laughing! Does Lilly look funny?
- Just a bit but in a good way Rosy.
- Okay…
Sister continued playing under the table. And I wanted to join her but through the window, I saw a squirrel. Fluffy and red. I thought that maybe it is possible, that it was the same squirrel that mom was storytelling us about. And I sneaked outside carefully and cautiously. I wore a white dress with beautiful lace. With interested eyes, I followed her movements by my look. She was astonishing! And I was going after her, slowly, not to scare her.
After a few minutes of spying on an animal, I saw the lake and forest not so far. We were living close to nature, so it was easy to get lost here. That was a reasonable motive why parents never let us walk here by ourselves. I stopped as I saw the squirrel jumping into the forest, but I still could see her fluffy tail. I thought for a moment and looked at the dark grey sky that was informing me that it is going to rain soon. But I also thought that if I will stay, I won’t find out if exactly that squirrel is by chance not a squirrel from mom’s fairytale. I wanted to see the way she will find her nuts and smaragdes in them so much that I stopped thinking and I just followed.
Wood was getting thicker and thicker. I scratched my hand somehow but I didn’t cry because my curiosity was so high I just didn’t feel it fully. In a moment I saw a squirrel digging under a tree with its fluffy clean paws. She was so cute that I unwillingly smiled. I got ready to see what was there, and what kind of stones were there. But hearing my dad’s voice I got scared and have hidden behind a big old tree.
- Lilly! Sunny are you here?
I wanted to answer but didn’t want to scare a squirrel because I was close to her. And finally, she showed me her first nut, and another, I wanted to move closer to see the smaragds but she saw me and got scared. She ran away.
- Oh no! Dad, I’m here…
I was standing there, my head bowed, looking at my shoes.
- Lilly, are you okay? Did nothing happen to you?
Dad was scared and nervous. He saw my scratch and closed his eyes as if it was hurting him, not me. He hugged me and stroked my hair as his breath was calming down. I looked into his big brown eyes and hugged him too.
- I wanted to find out where this squirrel was running and where she hid her smarageds just like mom was storytelling us. I didn’t want you to worry.
- But honey, we did.
I showed him where my pretty fluffy friend has hidden her nuts, and we looked into there. But there were no nuts and no beautiful stones. I was sad but not so much to be really upset. We came home and mom was almost crying when she saw me. She clung to me and I felt that I am loved here. I decided to never worry my family so much anymore.
The honey pie was ready on the table. Dad read the prayer and we prayed with him. Mom was happy when she looked at him and vice versa. I told them all what happened and mom, smiling with a conspiratorial smile told us her idea. And we revived it into life. We left a piece of honey pie on the plate in the garden. And just went home after that, we were sitting close to the fireplace. Dad decided to make a pleasant after-dinner time for us, rather than send us to sleep as it was his custom.
We stayed like that for an hour, speaking about nothing, joyfully smiling from being around the fire, especially Rose. After a few more small talks Dad decided to check honey pie before going to sleep. We all agreed with the idea. And we were so glad that the idea bloomed in our Mom’s mind because the effect was just incredible. The honey pie wasn’t there anymore, but instead of that, there were smaragds. Green, shiny, and it was five of them. I laughed like all of us. These stones could change our life extremely. And we were so happy.
- Mommy, your idea was just perfect, and the story you told us is real!
- Probably, smaragd squirrel is real…
