Bavin had just completed Year 4 of Medicine and was preparing to begin Year 5.

That summer, he stayed in Poland to complete hospital placements, gain clinical experience and spend time with students attending the Medical Poland MiniMed Programme.

Many of those students had already completed their Leaving Certificate and were exploring whether medicine was the right path for them.
