Abdul Nasay, student of CS 2nd-B at the University of Wah, Registration No. UW-25-CS-BS-070, participated in the 6th National Junior Championship held at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar from 8th June to 10th June.
He participated in the Discus Throw event and gave an excellent performance. With a throw of
36.89 meters, he secured the 2nd position and won the Silver Medal in the championship.
The final positions in the Discus Throw event were as follows:
1st Position: 40.12 meters
2nd Position: 36.89 meters
3rd Position: 34.11 meters
This achievement is a matter of pride for the University of Wah. The participation was
facilitated under the guidance of the Sports Society, under the supervision of Sports Supervisor Mr. Zahid Mehmood. His success reflects dedication, hard work, and sportsmanship, and it has brought recognition to the university.

Celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026 at University of Wah

The Department of Biosciences, University of Wah, in collaboration with the University of Wah Science Society (UWSS), successfully celebrated the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) 2026 on 21 May 2026 at Academic Block-C, University of Wah. The event was organized under the global theme “Acting Locally for Global Impact,” commemorating the adoption of the Convention on Biological Diversity in 1992.

The activity was conducted under the supervision of Ms. Zeenat Haq, Lecturer, Department of Biosciences, with the objective of promoting awareness about biodiversity conservation, environmental sustainability, and ecosystem protection. The event highlighted the significance of biodiversity in maintaining ecological balance, safeguarding natural resources, ensuring food security, and supporting sustainable development. It also contributed to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 14 (Life Below Water), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

Students actively participated through poster presentations and scientific models showcasing themes related to biological diversity, ecosystem conservation, climate awareness, and sustainability. The activity provided a valuable platform for students to demonstrate scientific knowledge, enhance communication skills, and develop a deeper understanding of contemporary environmental challenges.

The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan, Director ORIC, and Prof. Dr. Waqas Hassan, Chairperson, Department of Biosciences, who visited the displays, interacted with participants, and appreciated their creativity, scientific insight, and commitment to environmental stewardship. Seminar on “Advancement in Space Science & Technology: Lessons and Opportunities for Pakistan”

The Department of Physics, University of Wah, in collaboration with the University of Wah Science Society (UWSS) and the Institute of Space Technology (IST), organized a seminar titled “Advancement in Space Science & Technology: Lessons and Opportunities for Pakistan” on 3 June 2026 at the University of Wah Auditorium.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Jameel-un-Nabi (Vice Chancellor, University of Wah), Brig. Shajee Ullah Quadri (Registrar, University of Wah), Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar (Dean, Faculty of Basic Sciences), Prof. Dr. Hikmat Ullah (Dean, Faculty of Computer Sciences), Prof. Dr. Adnan Tariq (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Amjad Hassan (Director ORIC), Prof. Dr. Faisal Nawaz (Director Academics), along with faculty members, researchers, and students.

The keynote address was delivered by Brig. Dr. Syed Adnan Qasim, Registrar, Institute of Space Technology (IST), who highlighted recent advancements in space science and technology, Pakistan’s progress in the space sector, and emerging opportunities for young scientists and researchers. The second session was conducted by Dr. Rehan Mahmood, Associate Professor, IST, who discussed developments in space research, satellite communication technologies, and career pathways in the space industry.

The seminar served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and interaction among participants, enhancing their understanding of Pakistan’s space sector and the importance of research, innovation, and technological advancement.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Saddiq Usman, Chairperson, Department of Physics. Prof. Dr. Uzma Ghazanfar presented commemorative shields to the distinguished speakers in recognition of their contributions. The seminar ended with a group photograph, reflecting the strong collaboration between the University of Wah and IST and their shared commitment to academic excellence, research, and scientific progress.

جشنوارہ شعر و بیان Celebration of
Literature

Read Pakistan UW successfully organized the National Event جشنوارہ شعر و بیان – Celebration of Literature on 4th June, 2026 at Seminar Hall UW with a core focus on promoting literature and reading culture within the community. The event aimed to rekindle the community’s connection with books and creative expression, encourage critical thought, celebrate original student voices, and position literature as a vital tool for reflection in the digital age. The program was graced by Chief Guest Syeda Fatima Hasan Gilani, CEO Read Pakistan, and Guest of Honour Ms. Yasmeen Akhtar, renowned book translator and editor.

There was a thought-provoking panel discussion on "Reading in this Age of Distraction" featuring panelists Dr. Syed Raza Abbas, Dr. Majid Jamal Khan, Ruaiya Kamzi, and Rubab Kazmi, who explored challenges to deep reading and shared practical ways for youth to rebuild focus. The event concluded with a formal closing ceremony where shields and certificates were awarded to winners and runners-up of each module. جشنوارہ شعر و بیان successfully promoted literature at the community level and, through dialogue, competition, and celebration, inspired students to value reading, create original work, and see books as companions against distraction, thereby reinforcing Read Pakistan’s mission of building a nation of readers and thinkers.

The HEC Intervarsity Zone-D Championship (M) 2026 was hosted by the University of Wah in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at POF Sports Complex, Wah Cantt, on 3rd and 4th June 2026.

The championship was organized by the Sports Society of the University of Wah under the supervision of Sports Instructor Mr. Zahid Mehmood. Six teams participated in the event, including Riphah International University, Quaid-i-Azam University, FAST, NUST, Bahria University, and the University of Wah.

The matches were played on a knockout basis, where all teams showed great sportsmanship and competitive spirit. The final match was played between Quaid-i-Azam University and NUST. NUST won the final through an exceptional performance and secured the championship title.

The event was successfully conducted and reflected the University of Wah’s commitment to promoting sports, teamwork, and healthy competition among students.

Summit on Disabilities and Marginalities: Art, Culture and Representation
The National Summit on Disabilities and Marginalities: Art, Culture and Representation was successfully held on 2 June 2026 at the University of Wah under the auspices of the Social Sciences Society. The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Wah, Deans, Directors, faculty members, students, and distinguished guests, reflecting the institution’s strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, and social responsibility.
The summit brought together academics, students, and community members to discuss issues related to disability, marginalization, inclusion, and representation. The event was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Tahir Irfan Khan, Vice Chancellor, Abbottabad University of Science and Technology, as Chief Guest, who emphasized the importance of creating inclusive societies that value diversity, equal opportunities, and social justice.
Organized under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan and coordinated by Miss Rafia Bibi along with the student leadership of the Social Sciences Society, the summit featured research paper presentations, an expert panel discussion, cultural performances, awareness stalls, and various competitions. These activities promoted meaningful dialogue, creativity, and awareness regarding the challenges faced by marginalized communities. The event concluded with active participation from students and guests, highlighting a strong commitment to inclusion, social responsibility, and the empowerment of underrepresented voices.
