Fatta Bhand is a relatively large and famous village of Tehsil Kharian, District Gujrat and located 7 km from the city of Dinga and is at periferi around Kharian at 20 km. The distance to Upper Jhelum canal is about 3 km. Fatta Bhand is a union council, and Fatta Bhand Union Council includes the number of 13 villages. Most of the population has immigrated to Europe in search of better quality of life which is common for District Gujrat. People are settled in almost whole western part of Europe: from UK, Scandinavia to Italy and Greece. The first person to arrive in Europe was Haji Sardar Khan Gorsi in 1964 when he reached England. At the moment he is settled and well established in Denmark, Scandinavia. Almost at the same time Haji Sardar Khan Mehloo (late) travelled towards South East Asia and settled in Hong Kong. Now a day every single family in the village has at least one or two persons living abroad. The outcome of this massive immigration abroad has had a dominating affect of the village life, huge and beautifully constructed homes “ kothies “ are surrounding the village. Economically people are relatively pleased the quality of life has boosted, cars are running in the streets like in cities indicating that a modern era has reached Fatta Bhand in the past decay. Majority of the people living in the village are of the cast gujjar. This particular cast has a number of different sub casts and following sub casts are to be found in Fatta Bhand: Mehloo, Gorsi, Bajar, Toppe, Chohaan, Paswal, Meemle, Maissi and Miane. Several other minority casts are well presented in the village. Beside different baradaries in general Fatta Bhand is a relatively peaceful village. Aslam Chairman and Ch. Mohammad Iqbal Paswal are among famous personalities who have created respectable status in the past. Both were politically active during Baldayati elections and elected during different priods.
