The University of Turbat announces the entry test schedule for BS programs (Spring 2023 semester).

The University of Turbat has announced the schedule to conduct the entry test for admission in BS programs for the Spring 2023 semester. The entrance test for B.Ed (Honors) will be conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) Pakistan on Sunday, 25th December 2022 at 10:00 AM at the UoT Law College, Commissionery Road Turbat. The test for all remaining programs (except LLB) will be conducted at the main campus of University of Turbat on Monday, 26th December 2022 at 10:30 AM. All the candidates are directed to report at their respective centers at 09:30AM on the given dates along with their original CNIC or form-B. The 12th meeting of the Syndicate of University Of Turbat (UoT) was held at video conference room of the university. The Vice Chancellor (VC) UoT, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad chaired the meeting. While cordially welcoming the learned members of the Syndicate, VC apprised the functions of the statutory bodies and faculty members of the university in bringing the UoT to par with prominent national universities in a short time. Speaking on occasion, Vice Chancellor said at University of Turbat the emphasis is on using modern techniques and methods in teaching and research activities which have brought our university to the heights of success. Highlighting the achievements accomplished by the university during the last ten years, the Vice Chancellor said that the faculty members and researchers are contributing in their fields at national and international levels and our students are instrumental in the socio-economic uplift of the province and country. Underlining the role and importance of the statutory bodies of the university, Dr. Jan Muhammad said that the decisions of the Syndicate will leave a long-lasting impact on the future planning academic, financial, administrative, and infrastructural development of the university. The august house expressed satisfaction over the pace of academic and infrastructural growth of the university and with maintaining merit and transparency in the administrative and financial affairs of the institution.
Various agenda items were discussed and resolved in the meeting. The members of the meeting confirmed the minutes of the previous Syndicate, Finance and Planning committee, the third meeting of the Affiliation Committee, and also endorsed affiliation of different colleges with Turbat University and handing & taking over of the documents with University of Gwadar and University of Makran. The august house also approved the appointment of members for UoT’s statutory bodies.
Under the chairmanship of VC, UoT all other members of the Syndicate including Pro Vice-Chancellor, Secretaries Government of Balochistan (Colleges, Higher & Technical Education and Finance Department), Deans, and Director QEC attended the meeting.

Pink Ribbon Pakistan - Breast Cancer Awareness Program held at the University Of Turbat

In collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC), the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Program 2022, was held at the University of Turbat (UoT).
The event was divided into different segments including speeches, a presentation, and drama to spread awareness regarding one of the most common types of diseases like breast cancer among women. Ms. Zahida Mehrab, Lecturer, English Department was the Focal Person of the event.
Sharing their views on the occasion, the medical experts empathized with the idea that no disease was to be considered a taboo as that would jeopardize the health of a community with dire consequences.
Speaking on occasion, Dr. Rubeena Amjad, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Mekran Medical College Turbat delivered an informative session on the causes, symptoms, and treatment of breast cancer.
In order to create awareness among the masses, Dr. Hayat Baloch, Consultant General Surgeon at Teaching Hospital Turbat shared a research-based presentation on the early signs of breast cancer, self-examination, and myths about it.
While sharing her expert views, Dr. Asifa, Gynecologist, at Teaching Hospital Turbat highlighted the consequences of breast cancer in the lives of women.
Stressing the need for creating awareness about breast cancer, the speakers said that breast cancer was curable if it was diagnosed at an early stage and treated accordingly. They insisted on effective measures to create greater awareness about removing the social barriers that prevent a breast cancer patient from discussing her problems with the parents or elders of the family.
On behalf of Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, University of Turbat, Dr. Riaz Mazar Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) shared his views on the importance of organizing an awareness program in order to educate society regarding the rise of the diseases like breast cancer among females. He said that under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, the University of Turbat is committed to fulfilling its social responsibilities for the welfare of the people in the area.

Master Trainers from the University Of Turbat (UoT) cascaded the training sessions for the faculty members from all departments of UoT to reflect their learning on the theme “Modern Classroom Teaching” under the U.S. - Pakistan University Partnerships Grants Program. The cascading training session phase II was held at the Main Campus of University of Turbat from 3rd to 4th November 2022. The BUITEMS grant lead team members Dr. Bilal Sarwar, Dr. Fozia Ahmed, Dr. Raja Rub Nawaz, and Dr. S.M Nabeel were also present on the occasion for monitoring purposes.
During the 2-days training session, Dr. Bilal Sarwar and Dr. Fozia Ahmed also interacted with the faculty of UoT and shared their knowledge and expertise. The grant team of BUITEMS appreciated the active participation of UoT faculty in the 2-day cascading training session.
Sharing his views during the opening session of the cascading training, Dr. Ghulam Jan, Director ORIC and Master Trainer, warmly welcomed the participants from UoT and the grant lead team of BUITEMS. Elaborating the objectives of training session, Dr. Ghulam Jan thanked Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad for his support and leadership in conducting training sessions in the University of Turbat.
The Master trainers for the cascading training session including Dr. Ghulam Jan, Ms. Mahnaz Bashir, Mr. Mussadiq, Ms. Mahjabeen Farqeer, and Ms. Zahida Mehrab conducted the sessions on academic leadership, interactive classrooms, assertion evidence, classroom assessment, classroom environment, traditional and modern classrooms, collaborative learning techniques, and bloom's taxonomy: applied scenarios.
In the closing session, Dr. Ghulam Jan said that the Phase III would be held in the near future, in which the participants of phase II will implement what they have learned in their classrooms with their students and they will also share the implementation report.

The Students of the Department of Computer Science, University Of Turbat (UoT), participated in the ‘Speed Programming Competition’ held at BUITEMS QUETTA - Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering & Management Sciences, Quetta on 24th and 25th October 2022. This event was titled “CHALLENGING THE GEEKS OF BALOCHISTAN”. Twenty four teams from various universities of Balochistan, including the “Tri-Gork Coders” team from the University of Turbat participated in the event. The UoT’s team was consisted of Faisal Jan, Imdad Rind, and Baloch from the 6th Semester of BS Computer Science. All teams were assigned to complete different tasks in a programming language (like C, C++, and Python). The assigned tasks were to be completed within a given timeline. The UoT’s team secured 8th position among 24 participating teams from different universities of Balochistan. Engineer Ahmed Farooq Bazai, BUITEMS Vice Chancellor awarded them appreciation certificates and gift hampers. While congratulating the students for this achievement, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, VC UoT said that our students were talented and hardworking and that they were on par with the students of national universities, and capable of competing at any national or international level. He said, the faculty members are working hard to prepare the students for contributing to society. Mukhtar Hussain, Chairman Computer Science Department appreciated the efforts of students for showcasing brilliant performance and securing positions in the competition.
The students thanked the Worthy Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Computer Science Department for their support and encouragement, and for having given them an opportunity to demonstrate their talent at provincial and national level competitions.

Students of the Law Faculty University Of Turbat completed the internship program at the Law Directorate Rawalpindi
As per the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) syllabus of LLB 5 years, an internship program of six to eight weeks is compulsory for each student. In the fulfillment of this requirement, ten students from the 8th semester (LLB 5-years) of the Faculty of Legal Education were selected for an internship at Law Directorate in Rawalpindi.
The three weeks internship program from 13th June to 1st July 2022 was sponsored and facilitated by the F.C South Balochistan.
The event included lecture sessions by prominent scholars, presentations, and moot courts by the interns.
The students were briefed about the army and its broad organization, the Law Directorate and its mandate understanding the basics of research, lawfare, judicial activism and challenges, defamation laws, introduction to military laws in Pakistan, the law of armed conflict, and international law, legal aspects of Kashmir Issue, lawfare in the Russian- Ukraine Conflict, international law and national security, criminal justice system in Pakistan, corporate law and challenges of corporate governance, vetting of legal documents, promotion in the judicial system of Pakistan, the role of the bar association in the dispensation of justice, and anti-money laundering and counter-terror financing during the internship program.
Besides Islamabad and Kashmir, the interns also visited the army museum and ISPR at Rawalpindi, the Kashmir monument at Muzaffarabad, the Kashmir Institute of Management and Technology, the crossing point between Pak India Border at Titwal and Chakothi, and other prominent places. At the end of the internship program, the students were awarded certificates.
