🎉 Faculty of Social Sciences lifts the Championship Trophy!

The Faculty of Social Sciences clinched the Independence Day Inter-Faculty Tape-Ball Cricket Tournament at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam, defeating the Faculty of Crop Production in an exciting final.

Faculty of Crop Production — 86 runs / 10 overs
Faculty of Social Sciences — Target achieved for 5 wickets

The tournament featured 32 teams from different faculties, adding a vibrant sporting spirit to SAU’s Independence Day celebrations.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, who attended the closing ceremony as Chief Guest, presented trophies and prizes to the winning and runners-up teams and outstanding players. He highlighted the importance of sports in developing discipline, teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship and national spirit among students.

🇵🇰 Independence Day Celebrations at Sindh Agriculture University 🇵🇰

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, celebrated Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and national spirit.

A grand Independence Day Rally was held from the Faculty of Crop Production to the Vice Chancellor Secretariat. Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, Deans, faculty members, officers, employees and students participated in the rally carrying national flags and chanting “Pakistan Zindabad.” 🇵🇰

At the conclusion of the rally, the national flag was hoisted and the national anthem was performed. The Vice Chancellor later cut the Independence Day cake.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Altaf Siyal urged students and youth to contribute to Pakistan’s progress through education, research, science, technology, skills and modern agriculture. He said universities have a vital role in shaping the future of the country.

🎉 Bukhari Model School Independence Day Program

A special program by Bukhari Model School, Farm Colony was also held at Dr. A.M. Sheikh Auditorium. Schoolchildren presented national songs, speeches, tableaus and patriotic performances, showcasing their talent and love for Pakistan.

The Vice Chancellor appreciated the students’ performances and said that children are the bright future of Pakistan.

🇵🇰🌱 SAU Celebrates Independence Day with Plantation Drive & Cultural Activities 🎭

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, organized a series of activities as part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations, including a plantation drive, cultural program, food exhibition and multilingual speech competitions.

🌳 Green Pakistan, Green Future
Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal inaugurated the plantation drive by planting a fruit tree. Deans, faculty members, officers, staff and students also participated and planted saplings, highlighting the importance of environmental protection and a greener Pakistan.

🎶 Cultural Program
The celebrations featured national songs by Ramchand Faqir and beautiful national melodies on the traditional algoza by Abdul Karim Gopang.

🍰 Food Exhibition
The Institute of Food Science and Technology organized a colorful food exhibition showcasing traditional foods, sweets and food products prepared by students, including products presented in the colours of the national flag.

🎤 Speech Competition
Students participated in Urdu, Sindhi and English speech competitions on the theme “Rights and Responsibilities of a Citizen.” The Vice Chancellor distributed shields, certificates and cash prizes among the winning students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Altaf Siyal said Independence Day is not only a celebration but also a reminder of our rights and responsibilities. He urged youth to contribute to education, research, technology, agriculture, environmental protection and national development.

🧅🌱 SAU Calls for Modern Research to Improve Onion Production in Sindh

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, organized a one-day international training seminar on “Onion Diseases and Insect Pests” at the Faculty of Crop Protection.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal stressed the need for modern agricultural research and farmer-friendly technologies to address diseases, insect pests, climate change, water scarcity, storage and marketing challenges in onion production.

He emphasized that increasing production alone was not enough and called for greater focus on quality seed, efficient irrigation, integrated pest management, improved storage, post-harvest loss reduction, value addition and stronger market linkages.

Dean Faculty of Crop Protection Prof. Dr. Abdul Mubeen Lodhi highlighted the importance of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and scientific crop protection to improve onion quality and farmers’ incomes.

Senior Lecturer, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka, Dr. Amani Mannakkara called for Pakistan-Sri Lanka cooperation and joint research to develop practical solutions for onion growers facing common challenges.

Scientists, faculty members, students, agricultural experts and growers participated in the seminar and received training on modern onion production, pest and disease management, storage and marketing.

🇵🇰🎭 SAU Celebrates Pakistan’s Rich Cultural Diversity 🎭🇵🇰

Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, organized a colorful cultural event titled “Cultural Diversity and Showcase of Various Cultures” as part of the celebrations of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day.

The event at Dr. A.M. Sheikh Auditorium highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Pakistan, including its languages, traditional dresses, music, dances, lifestyles, customs and agricultural traditions.

Speakers emphasized that Pakistan’s cultural diversity is a symbol of national strength, unity, tolerance and mutual respect, and stressed the importance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations.

🌟 The highlight of the event was a series of vibrant cultural performances by SAU students, who represented the traditions of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan through regional dances and national songs.

💻🎓 Digitalization & Industry-Linked Education Vital for Employable Graduates: SAU VC

Vice Chancellor Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal has emphasized the importance of digitalization, technology and industry-linked curricula to prepare graduates for the modern job market.

Speaking at a ceremony organized by the Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association (SAUTA), the Vice Chancellor said the world was rapidly moving towards technological transformation, making digital skills, innovation and modern teaching methods essential for higher education.

Dr. Altaf Siyal highlighted several initiatives of the university, including the regularization of KCAMS staff, institutional restructuring and the approval of the Information Technology Centre as SAU’s sixth faculty.

He said his priorities included clearing outstanding dues of retired employees and providing students with a better and modern teaching and learning environment.

SAUTA President Dr. Fahad Nazir Khoso appreciated the university administration’s efforts for teachers’ welfare, institutional development and career progression. He also acknowledged the valuable cooperation of University Syndicate members, including Dr. A.Q. Mughal and other members, in supporting the university’s development initiatives.

🌱🇵🇰 Green Pakistan, Green Future — Plantation Drive at SAU 🇵🇰🌱

As part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations, Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam, organized a plantation drive and environmental awareness session under the theme “Green Pakistan, Green Future.”

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal, Deans, faculty members, officers and students actively participated in the plantation campaign and planted saplings at the University.

The Vice Chancellor highlighted the importance of forest conservation, tree plantation, agroforestry, water conservation and climate-smart agriculture to build a greener and more resilient Pakistan.

Dr. Altaf Siyal proposed that every student, from school to university level, should plant a tree in their own name and take responsibility for its care throughout their educational journey.

🇵🇰 Independence Day Rally at Sindh Agriculture University, Tandojam 🇵🇰

A grand Independence Day Rally was held at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam to pay tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs and promote national unity and patriotism.

The rally was led by Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal and attended by a large number of faculty members, officers, employees and students.

The rally started from the Dr. A.M. Sheikh Auditorium and concluded at the Faculty of Crop Production. Participants carried national flags and raised enthusiastic slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pak Army Paindabad.” 🇵🇰

Addressing the participants, the Vice Chancellor emphasized that the development and prosperity of Pakistan is a collective responsibility. He urged the youth to make knowledge, research, character and hard work the foundation of a stronger and prosperous Pakistan.

Chairman STEP Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar said the best tribute to the martyrs and defenders of the homeland is to perform our duties with honesty, dedication and responsibility.

The rally concluded with special prayers for the security, peace, progress, prosperity and stability of Pakistan.

🏏🇵🇰 Independence Day Tape-Ball Cricket Tournament at SAU 🇵🇰🏏

As part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations, a Tape-Ball Cricket Tournament was organized at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tandojam under the Directorate of Sports.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Dr. Altaf Ali Siyal inaugurated the tournament by striking the first ball.

In the opening match, Faculty of Crop Protection scored 105 runs in 8 overs. The Faculty of Crop Production chased down the target in just 7 overs and secured an exciting victory. 🎉

⭐ Javed Qambrani was the star performer, scoring an impressive 50 runs for the winning team.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said sports promote teamwork, discipline, healthy competition and leadership skills among students, while strengthening unity and a positive spirit among youth.
