Drug-resistant infections are a growing threat, claiming 1.27 MILLION lives globally in 2019 alone. Unchecked, AMR could cost the world a staggering USD 100 TRILLION by 2050. This isn't just a health crisis; it's an economic and food security emergency.

๐ฆ Study reveals the bacteria in your mouth might be setting you up for a heart attack.
A groundbreaking study has revealed that the bacteria living in your mouth might be doing more than just causing cavitiesโthey could also be setting you up for a heart attack.
Researchers from Tampere University in Finland have found genetic traces of oral bacteria in over 40% of arterial plaques taken from patients with coronary artery disease, including those who died suddenly from heart attacks. These bacterial biofilms, mostly from the viridans streptococci group, were deeply embedded in the plaquesโright where they canโt be reached by the immune system, but where they may contribute to deadly plaque ruptures.
The study adds compelling evidence to the long-suspected link between oral hygiene and heart health. Scientists believe that these dormant bacterial colonies can be triggered into inflammation by other infections, poor diet, or stressโcausing the plaque to rupture and block blood flow to the heart. While more research is needed to understand exactly how the bacteria travel from mouth to artery, the findings underscore the importance of oral health as a factor in preventing cardiovascular disease. In short, brushing your teeth might be doing more for your heart than you realize.
