اینٹی بائوٹکس، انسولین ہارمون، کھاد، سرکہ، شراب اور دھی کے پیداوار سے لے کر مصنوعی بارش، تابکار شعاعوں سے بچاو اور سمندر میں جہازوں سے لیک شدہ تیل کی صفائی تک کی صلاحیت ان نظر نہ آنے والے جرثوموں میں موجود ہے۔ جینیٹکس اور بائو ٹیکنالوجی پچھلے پانچ چھ دہائیوں پرمحیط جراثیم کے ان خفیہ صلاحیتوں سے مسلسل فائدہ اٹھا رہی ہے۔ تبھی تو ہم بازار میں ہائی بریڈ پھل، پھول، سبزیاں، پولٹری اور پالتو جانور دیکھ پا رہے ہیں"

چھوٹے اور کمزور ہونے کے بدلےقدرت نے کیڑوں کو اپنی بقا کے لئے کچھ انوکھی صلاحیتوں سے لیس کیا ہے تاکہ یہ نحیف زندہ سر، شکاریوں سے بھری دنیا میں اپنا وجود قائم رکھ سکےاور اپنی نسلوں کو پروان چڑھا سکیں۔ ان میں سے کچھ شکاری کے آگے مردہ ہونے کی اداکاری کرتے ہیں تو کچھ اپنے شکار پر میدان جنگ میں ایک پیشہ ورانہ چست و مستعد سپاہی کے مانند اپنے سے مضبوط پریڈیٹر کو بھگاتے دکھائی دیتے ہیں۔کچھ اور تیز رنگوں کے ذریعے اپنے زہریلے ہونے کے وارننگ سنگنلز دے رہے ہوتے ہیں۔ تو بعض کی شکل ارتقائی سفر نے پودوں پتوں جیسی بنا دی ہے تاکہ شکاری کو نظر ہی نہ آ سکے۔۔ ایسے ہی چند دلچسپ مناظر کیمرے کی آنکھ نے محفوظ کئے ہیں۔ جن میں سے صرف چند دئے گئے لنک پر ملاحظہ کریں۔
