"Students of BS Zoology (6th Semester), University of Swabi, successfully completed their internship with the Department of Wildlife and Forestry, Mardan. The internship provided knowledge on IUCN Protected Areas, including National Parks, Wildlife Sanctuaries, and ex-situ & in-situ conservation facilities. Students demonstrated a feasibility study for declaring biodiversity hotspots as protected areas, conducted field visits to Baja Wildlife Park, prepared a management plan, and gained insights into Pakistan’s ecological zones, wetlands, Ramsar sites, and migratory species. They also visited game reserves and Peshawar Zoo, furnished comprehensive reports, delivered presentations on wildlife management and protection, and actively participated in official activities at the DFO Mardan Wildlife Division. We extend our sincere gratitude to Sir Munsif (DFO Mardan) for his kind supervision and guidance throughout the internship and to Ma’am Dr Nazish Shah and Ma'am Kubra Bibi for their continuous support from the university."

Students of BS Zoology (6th Semester), University of Swabi have successfully completed their internship at the Carp Hatchery & Training Center, Peshawar. This internship provided them with practical exposure to fish breeding, hatchery management, and aquaculture practices.They observed and participated in various processes including induced breeding, larval rearing, and water quality monitoring.Students gained valuable experience under the supervision of expert hatchery staff.
This opportunity was made possible through the kind referral and guidance of Mr. Ahsan Khan sb Lecturer, Department of Zoology, University of Swabi.

From Learners to Researchers — A Proud Milestone!

Today marked a special academic achievement as our BS research students ; Mr.Amir Ghani, Ali Usman , Zakir Ali , Irfan Khan, Miss Hajra , Asma , Sameena and Hafsa successfully defended their final-year research projects — a moment that reflects months of dedication, discipline, and discovery.

These students, who once began their journey as curious learners, have now matured into confident young researchers. Their presentations were not only well-prepared but delivered with clarity, depth, and academic insight.

The research work was supervised by Mr. Ahsan Khan, Lecturer, Department of Zoology, University of Swabi, a highly respected faculty member whose consistent guidance, mentorship, and encouragement played a pivotal role in shaping their academic path. The external examiner was Dr. Nazish Huma Khan, Assistant Professor/ HOD, Department of Environmental Science, University of Swabi from the Department of Environmental Sciences, who offered thoughtful feedback and commendation during the defense.

This accomplishment is a proud moment for the department and a reminder that growth comes with commitment, and dreams are achievable with the right support.

*Alhamdulillah!*

We are proud to share that *Amir Ghani*, a dedicated student of the *Department of Zoology, University of Swabi*, successfully presented his research at the *43rd International Congress of Zoology, Pakistan*, held at the *University of Okara, Punjab* from *June 23–25, 2025*.

His research, titled *"Impact of Temperature Fluctuations on the Growth of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio)"*, highlights the critical effects of climatic variation on freshwater aquaculture — a vital aspect of sustainable fish farming.

This achievement reflects not only his hard work but also the continued academic guidance of his supervisor, *Mr. Ahsan Khan*, Lecturer, Department of Zoology, whose mentorship and support have been instrumental throughout this journey.

The department acknowledges the role of family and peer encouragement, which often remains unseen but plays a significant part in every academic success.

Representing the University of Swabi on an international platform is a moment of pride for us all. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Amir and wish him continued success in his academic endeavors.
