Ducklings swimming after their mother is not an absurd thing.
The mother breaks the surface tension of the water and creates driving waves for the children by riding the waves and passing them to the children to create wave drag and dynamic balance for them, thus facilitating the swimming process for the ducklings and reducing their energy consumed in swimming.
