The Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, University of Baltistan successfully organized a highly informative Student Exposure Visit to Skardu International Airport for 100 students, aimed at providing practical insights into the aviation and tourism industry.
During the visit, students explored various operational areas of the airport and gained valuable knowledge regarding aviation tourism, airport management, airport security systems, ASF protocols and procedures, guest handling, fire safety systems, and customer service operations. Students also visited the watch tower, weather station, and other technical sections of the airport to better understand airport functionality and management.
The interactive briefing sessions were conducted by distinguished officials of Skardu International Airport including:
• Shahid Imran — Chief Operating Officer & Airport Manager (APM) • Nasir Hussain — Deputy Airport Manager (Deputy APM)• Shahmir Hussain Rinchan — Officer Commanding, Airport Security Force (ASF) • Iftikhar Ali — Supervisor CNS/IT
The officials thoroughly briefed the students about the aviation industry, airport operations, emerging trends in aviation tourism, and career opportunities available for students in this rapidly growing field.
The study tour was organized by Shamshad Hussain — Program Manager, Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management and Deputy Director External Linkages. Faculty members Maria Akbar and Junaid also accompanied the students and expressed their gratitude to the airport management and ASF team for arranging such an engaging, educational, and interactive session.
The visit proved to be an enriching learning experience for the students and reflected the department’s commitment to experiential learning, professional development, and strengthening linkages with key stakeholders of the tourism and hospitality industry. A comprehensive session on Hospitality Operations and Front Office Management was attended by 35 students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Avari Hotel. Mr. Aziz Askari, Senior HR Executive & Guest Service Agent Ms. Meher Angeez, delivered an in-depth presentation encompassing Avari Hotel's organizational structure, training protocols, business ethics, front desk management and guest service standards. The session was attended by Ms. Maria Akbar, Head of Department, along with Mr. Junaid Ahmad and Mr. Shamshad Hussain. We extend our gratitude to the management of Avari Hotel for their invaluable support in academic-industry collaboration.

The Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management, in partnership with Youth Action for Next Generations (YANG), successfully hosted a thought-provoking awareness session titled 'Climate Resilience through Youth Empowerment'. This initiative convened students and young leaders to deliberate on the escalating climate challenges confronting Gilgit-Baltistan, while emphasizing the crucial role of youth participation in developing sustainable and climate-resilient communities. The session featured a presentation by Mr. Muhammad Junaid from the Department of Business Management, who underscored the significance of youth involvement in climate action, environmental sustainability, and community engagement. Furthermore, participants were informed about the mission, initiatives, and opportunities provided by Youth Action for Next Generations (YANG) aimed at empowering young individuals through leadership and climate advocacy.

The Department of Tourism & Hospitality Management at the University of Baltistan successfully conducted a comprehensive practical training session on Front Office Management and Hospitality Operations at the renowned Dynasty Hotel Skardu. The initiative aimed to strengthen student’s practical exposure and align academic learning with real-world industry practices.
The session was led by Mr. Shamshad Hussain, Program Manager & Deputy Director External Linkages, who facilitated hands-on training to equip students with essential operational skills. Through practical demonstrations and interactive activities, students gained valuable insights into front office procedures, guest handling, service standards, and overall hospitality management.
Students actively participated throughout the session, showing keen interest and enthusiasm. The training provided them with a platform to engage directly with industry professionals and understand the dynamics of hotel operations in a real-time environment.
The event was further enriched by the presence of distinguished guests from EVK2CNR, Mr. Mechaklay and Mr. Riaz, who delivered informative sessions on eco-friendly and sustainable tourism practices. They guided students on the importance of environmental responsibility in tourism development and shared practical approaches to promote sustainable destinations in the region.
Additionally, Mr. Essa and the Managing Director of Dynasty Hotel Skardu addressed the students on the Art and Science of Opening a Hotel. Their session provided valuable entrepreneurial insights, covering key aspects such as planning, operations, customer experience, and the challenges involved in establishing and managing a successful hospitality business.

تین سالہ مدت مکمل ہونے پر وائس چانسلر کے حکم سے تمام شعبہ جات کے سربراہان تبدیل
سکردو(پریس ریلیز۔۔۔۔11 فروری 2026ء) بلتستان یونیورسٹی سکردو کے تعلیمی و انتظامی ڈھانچے میں ایک بڑی اور اہم تبدیلی لائی گئی ہے جہاں وائس چانسلر پروفیسر ڈاکٹر مسعود اختر کے خصوصی حکم پر جامعہ کے تمام شعبہ جات کے سربراہان (Heads of Department) کو تبدیل کر کے نئے سربراہان کو ذمہ داریاں تفویض کر دی گئی ہیں۔ رجسٹرار آفس سے جاری کردہ نوٹیفکیشن کے مطابق وائس چانسلر نے یہ تقرریاں فوری طور پر نافذ العمل کر دی ہیں۔ جاری کردہ تفصیلات کے مطابق ڈاکٹر اشتیاق حسین کو شعبہ نباتیات (Botany) کے سربراہ مقرر کیا گیا ہے جبکہ ڈاکٹر میر عالم کو بزنس مینجمنٹ، کامرس اور اکنامکس کی ذمہ داری سونپی گئی ہے ۔ اسی طرح ڈاکٹر منور علی عباس کو ریاضی، ڈاکٹر نصرت حسین کو کیمسٹری اور ڈاکٹر شاہد حسین کو زولوجی کے ہیڈ آف ڈیپارٹمنٹ لگایا گیا ہے ۔ لیکچرارز میں سے ڈاکٹر فرخ کامران کو ایجوکیشنل ڈویلپمنٹ، امتیاز احمد کو کمپیوٹر سائنس، سفیر حسین کو لینگویجز اینڈ کلچرل اسٹڈیز اور سید رضی الحسن کو ارتھ اینڈ انوائرمنٹل سائنس کے شعبوں کا چارج دیا گیا ہے۔ علاوہ ازیں مس ماریہ اکبر کو ٹورازم اینڈ ہاسپیٹلٹی مینجمنٹ اور عدنان احمد خان کو آرکیالوجی اینڈ ہیریٹیج اسٹڈیز کے سربراہ تعینات کیا گیا ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں متعلقہ ڈینز کو ہدایت کی گئی ہے کہ وہ سابقہ سربراہان سے نئے HoDs کو تمام ریکارڈ کی باقاعدہ منتقلی اور چارج سنبھالنے کے عمل کو مکمل طور پر سہل بنائیں تاکہ تعلیمی اُمور میں تسلسل برقرار رہے ۔ اس تبدیلی کو جامعہ میں نئے تعلیمی وژن اور انتظامی اصلاحات کی جانب ایک اہم قدم قرار دیا جا رہا ہے۔ واضح رہے کہ بلتستان یونیورسٹی کے آرڈیننس کے مطابق ہر شعبہ کے سربراہ کی تعیناتی تین سال کے لیے ہوتی ہے اور حال ہی میں اکثر سربراہانِ شعبہ جات کی یہ تین سالہ مدت مکمل ہو چکی تھی جس کے بعد یہ نئی تقرریاں عمل میں لائی گئی ہیں۔
