Proud moment for the students of our Marketing Strategy course. As their final assignment, they developed and produced a complete marketing campaign video for Tapal Tea, one of Pakistan’s most loved brands.
Using their strategic thinking, creativity, and practical marketing concepts, they crafted a fun, relatable story that showcases the warmth, togetherness, and everyday magic of Tapal Tea.

A Proud Milestone for Quality Education
HANDS Institute of Development Studies (HANDS-IDS) has successfully completed its RIPE Self-Review Visit 2025–2026, a significant step toward academic excellence and institutional growth.
On 22nd & 23rd June 2026, the institute conducted a comprehensive Review of Institutional Performance & Enhancement (RIPE) Self-Review, aligned with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan’s Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) framework. Two senior external experts, Dr. Abdul Razak Mahar, Director QEC, Textile Institute of Pakistan and Mr. Syed Waqar ul Hasan, Director QEC, from Salim Habib University, were invited to do the review.
The two-day RIPE was began with a warm welcome by Dr. Rakhshinda Khurram, Deputy Director of the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) and featured an insightful address by the Rector, HANDS IDS Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Abu Zar Wajidi, a detailed presentation of the Institutional Profile, and an in-depth Self-Assessment Report. The Dean, HoDs, Registrar and Controller of Examinations also attended the opening session.
Over two dynamic days, the team thoroughly evaluated key areas including:
• Institutional governance & strategic planning
• Academic programs & faculty development
• Research & innovation
• Student support services
• Quality assurance & continuous improvement
The process included engaging meetings with leadership, faculty, students, and administrative teams, along with a full campus tour and thorough verification of records and evidence.
The visit wrapped up with an exit meeting the external experts during which the preliminary findings were shared and valuable recommendations were provided by both the external experts to further strengthen the institute. The Rector, HANDS IDS Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Abu Zar Wajidi, thanked both the experts for valuable time, technical support and recommendations. This entire self-review was expertly coordinated by Dr. Rakhshinda Khurram, whose dedication and leadership were instrumental in making the process smooth and effective. This achievement reflects our strong resolve to deliver quality education, transparency, innovation, and continuous excellence for our students and the community.

Empowering Our Youth: Stand Strong Against Drugs
In a powerful initiative for student well-being and a drug-free future, the Directorate of Student Affairs at HANDS Institute of Development Studies (HIDS) organized an impactful awareness session on “Drugs Demand Reduction” in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Government of Pakistan.
Held on 1st July 2026, the session brought together faculty, staff, and students for an eye-opening discussion on the realities of substance abuse.
Led by Ms. Mehrin Farhan Shaikh, Deputy Director of Student Affairs & Events, the session featured expert voices from the frontline. Inspector Umar Sana and Mr. Hammad from ANF shared real-field insights on current drug trends, legal consequences, and the harsh social impact of narcotics. Dr. M. Muaaz, Clinical Psychologist, provided a deeper understanding of the psychological triggers, early warning signs, and recovery pathways highlighting the vital role of mental health support. The session went beyond lectures! Students actively participated in a lively Q&A segment, asking thoughtful questions and gaining practical guidance on prevention, intervention, and available support systems.
The event concluded with inspiring closing remarks by Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Abuzar Wajidi, who reaffirmed HIDS’s strong commitment to creating a safe, informed, and supportive campus environment. Dr. Wajidi also presented a souvenir to Inspector Umar Sana as a token of appreciation.
This wasn’t just an awareness session it was a step towards building resilience, spreading knowledge, and protecting our future generation. A big thank you to the entire ANF team, Dr. M. Muaaz, all participating students, faculty, and staff for making this event a meaningful success!

The Rector HANDS Institute of Development Studies Prof. Dr. (Meritorious) Abu Zar Wajidi delivered a deeply moving and heartfelt speech at the introductory reception of the book “Tajalliyat-e-Gaisu-e-Rasool ﷺ”.
The book, compiled by the wife of Dr. Mahmood Alam Asi Khurram Jahangiri, was launched by Masroor Kaifi Naat Council on 11 June 2026 at the Civil Aviation Officers Mess in Karachi.
The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Rashid Qadri, followed by a beautiful Hamd recited by Muhammad Abrar Bhai in a melodious voice.
In his Presidential Address Prof. Dr. Abu Zar Wajidi said “This is a gathering of love and spirituality. It is our duty to participate in such events. Such program is not measured by numbers rather it is measured by emotions, feelings, spirituality, and love. Holding a position is one thing and having knowledge is another; and having deep knowledge is entirely a different entity”.
He further said that for Dr. Mahmood Alam Asi Khurram Jahangiri and his respected wife, this book is a great honor and scrupulousness. For me, presiding over this event is also a great privilege. Though I do not consider myself worthy of it, it is one of the greatest honors of my life to chair this pure and blessed spiritual gathering dedicated to the Prophet ﷺ. The world has become a prisoner of materialism. What it truly needs is to become a prisoner of spirituality and the love of Mustafa ﷺ. We must become true lovers of the Prophet ﷺ. We must become people of prayer.
Prof. Wajidi further added that “Parents, teachers, and guardians have a responsibility to bring their children closer to the Prophet ﷺ and to Salah so they may be saved from corruption. Of course, we must learn science, technology, and all fields of knowledge both modern and classical. But spirituality is our own precious Islamic heritage, and we must return to it. Today, Zionism dominates us because we have distanced ourselves from our religion. We have become divided. We need unity. We must sincerely, truthfully, and diligently work to reform our broken nation through our faith and spirituality”.
In the end Prof. Dr. (Meritorious) Abu Zar Wajidi give big thank you to all the members and friends of Masroor Kaifi Naat Council.
The event was presided over by Shah Siraj-ul-Haq Kazmi, with notable guests including Prof. Dr. Syed Arif Kamal (former VC), Prof. Dr. Dilawar Khan, Prof. Dr. Fayyaz Ahmed Shaheen, Maulana Faisal Aziz Bandagi, Dr. Mahmood Alam Asi Khurram Jahangiri, Dr. Anwaar Iqbal, Dr. Muhammad Anwar, Muhammad Abrar, and many other stakeholders.
