Preparing for school is not only about uniforms, books and bags. We also need to prepare the child.
As children get ready to return to school, parents can make the transition easier by gradually restoring routines, encouraging a little daily reading and—most importantly—talking to their children.
Some children will be excited. Others may quietly be worried about studies, friendships, a new class or falling behind.
Before school begins, give your child something more valuable than another notebook: your attention.
💙 Ask what they are looking forward to.
💚 Listen to what worries them.
📚 Encourage effort instead of demanding perfection.
⏰ Help them return to a healthy sleep and morning routine.
🎯 Today’s Parent Challenge: Spend 10 distraction-free minutes with your child tonight and ask:
“What are you excited about when you return to school, and what can I help you with?”
Sometimes one calm conversation can give a child the confidence to begin again.
