The Department of Physical Therapy successfully conducted an insightful workshop on “Rewiring the Brain: Neuroplasticity-Driven Recovery After Stroke” for DPT 4th Semester students. The session explored how the brain adapts and reorganizes after stroke and highlighted the role of neuroplasticity, rehabilitation, repetitive practice, and task-specific training in functional recovery. The workshop provided students with valuable clinical insights into modern stroke rehabilitation and the role of physiotherapists in facilitating meaningful recovery.

📍 Educational Visit: Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore

Students of BS Food Science & Technology + BS Human Nutrition & Dietetics, Riphah International University Sahiwal Campus had an enriching visit to *Fatima Memorial Hospital, Lahore.

Students explored
Hospital Kitchen | Cafeteria | Dietary Department | Clinical Nutrition Unit | Food Safety & Quality Control

The program opened with a session by Prof. Dr. Shazia Zahra, Director & Associate Dean of Nutrition Program, Nur International University, Fatima Memorial System, who initiated the discussion on academic-clinical linkages and the role of dietitians in modern healthcare.
The Director, Fatima Memorial System highlighted the hospital’s history, legacy of healthcare service, and explained the different Wings of Nutrition Services*m at FMH and their role in patient care and preventive health.
She also highlighted the Business Incubation System at FMH, how it works, and welcomed Riphah Sahiwal students to take part actively in business ideas pitching. Implementation strategies for startup ideas were discussed to encourage student entrepreneurship in food & nutrition.
Students observed therapeutic meal planning, large-scale food preparation, and hospital food safety protocols. They had an interactive session with the hospital’s Internship Coordinator, Projects Principal, clinical dietitians and alumni who completed internships at international level in the UAE. The discussion covered clinical training pathways, project opportunities, and global exposure.
The visit connected academic learning with clinical practice and entrepreneurship. Students gained practical insight into clinical nutrition, institutional food service management, HACCP-based food safety, and startup opportunities in the health sector.

📍 Industrial Visit: Imtiaz Mega Store, Sahiwal

BS Food Science & Technology + BS Human Nutrition & Dietetics students from Riphah International University Sahiwal had an interactive visit to Imtiaz Mega Store, Sahiwal today.

Students observed retail operations and product labelling up close as part of their course activity.

Through this visit, students gained practical insight into how Codex and DRAP labelling regulations are applied on retail products. They learned to critically read ingredient lists, check date-marking formats, and evaluate nutrition claims for regulatory compliance. A walk through the production area gave them direct exposure to in-store quality compliance practices, hygiene standards, and process control. Exposure to herbal and functional foods helped them understand product positioning and target consumer groups, while observing kitchen and bakery operations connected classroom QA concepts to real-world food handling and safety practices. Overall, the experience strengthened their ability to link food law, quality assurance, and consumer communication in a commercial setting.

📢 **Cafeteria Inspection & Food Safety Awareness Initiative** 🍽️🔍

The Departments of **Human Nutrition & Dietetics (HND)** and **Food Science & Technology (FST)** conducted a comprehensive **Cafeteria Inspection Visit** as part of their commitment to promoting food safety, quality assurance, and a healthy campus environment.

HOD, Faculty members and students actively participated in the inspection and assessment process, evaluating various aspects of cafeteria operations, including:

✅ Hygiene & Sanitation Assessment
✅ Product Quality Evaluation
✅ Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Inspection
✅ Food Handling and Storage Practices
