"Pakistani Youth In The Dust Of Slums" a topic well taken ...... 20/05/2012

“Public education is an investment in our future.” Matt Blunt.Education is a fundamental human right and essential for the exercise of all other human rights. It promotes individual freedom and empowerment and yields important development benefits. Yet millions of children and adults remain deprived of educational opportunities, many as a result of poverty. Education is a powerful tool by which economically and socially marginalized adults and children can lift themselves out of poverty and participate fully as citizens."Pakistani youth in the dust of slms" a topic well taken by a teacher at 48-A. With our limited resources we tried to convey the message to our students that every single drop of rain matters and can do wonders. Our students under their teachers and branch heads supervision went to the slum area and gave away books and clothes to not so previledged citizens of the society and tried to spread the light of knowledge.

Saving Mother Earth their is a dire need for that.... 12/05/2012

"Save The Earth" People everywhere breathe the same air, share the same seas, live together on the land. People everywhere who learn, plan, work, care, can save the earth.{ Betty Miles}. Going green is easier than you think. There are little things you can do every day to help reduce greenhouse gases and make a less harmful impact on the environment. Taking care of the Earth is not just a responsibility -- it's a privilege. The students at Roots 48-A branch tried to create awareness among others about the means and ways in which we can save our beloved earth. They came up with excellent speeches , planted plants and did recycling and after the whole activity was finished they collected all the garbage them selves. "Treat the earth how you want the earth to treat you.."

World Poetry Day 07/05/2012

Poetry contributes to creative diversity, by questioning anew our use of words and things, our modes of perception and understanding of the world. Through its associations, its metaphors and its own grammar, poetic language is thus conceivably another facet of the dialogue among cultures. Diversity in dialogue, free flow of ideas by word, creativity and innovation. World Poetry Day is an invitation to reflect on the power of language and the full development of each person’s creative abilities. The main objective of celebrating this day isto support linguistic diversity through poetic expression and to offer endangered languages the opportunity to be heard within their communities. Our students tried to bring this spirit into life through their morning assembly.

Earth Hour Celebrations At G-8 Campus of Roots 07/05/2012

Earth Hour is the world’s largest volunteer action to combat climate change led by WWF. Initiated in Sydney, Australia in 2007, it has grown to become a global movement that now involves every continent across the world. Earth Hour invites people everywhere to switch off all unnecessary lights for one hour as a symbolic act to show their commitment to saving the planet. On this mega event of Earth hour our Roots students who were green school members were present at the venue of G-8 campus and we all made a pledge to work together to save our environment by saving our resources, These green school members have an edge over other students as they get access to exclusive WWF events and get a chance to interact with several Official WWF Ambassadors.I believe in God, only I spell it Nature. -- Frank Lloyd Wright

International Earth Day 07/05/2012

“There is a great need for the introduction of new values in our society, where bigger is not necessarily better, where slower can be faster, and where less can be more. -- Ga***rd Nelson On this day our grade 4 students highlighted the issue that our planet, our home is being neglected. Climate change continues unabated. It seems there's a new ecological disaster happening almost daily. This Earth Day it's time to mobilize the planet from the ground up to send a message that the Earth won't wait!

International Womens Day 07/05/2012

“We are strong. We are resilient. We are not vulnerable. We find ourselves in vulnerable situations.” as said by Isatou Jallow, Chief, Women, Children and Gender, World Food Programme.International Women's Day is not about asserting the superiority of one gender over the other. It is not about petty quarrels about who gets to do the dishes after dinner. The United Nations instituted International Women's Day to commemorate the contribution of women in the socio-political sphere as well as in global peace and security. The students of grade 5 addedd to our knowledge by sharing with us that historicallly women have been suppressed and treated unfairly. Even in the West, women were not given equal opportunities for work. Women were not given voting powers and they could not participate in political activity. Relegated to the hearth and household, women had little else to do other than raise children.

World's Labour Day 07/05/2012

Labor Day or Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers. Labour Day has its origins in the labour union movement, specifically the eight-hour day movement, which advocated eight hours for work, eight hours for recreation, and eight hours for rest. This day was celebrated in its true spirit at Roots 48- A where our students of grade 2 educated us how to treat labours, and what are their basic rights.
