In 1980 Army Education Corps School , Ordnance Road , Rawalpindi , was established for boys and girls till class VI with a strength of less than 200 under the administrative control of Dte. The first batch of Grade X students appeared in SSC Board Exams in 1986. The school was renamed as Army Edn Corps Public School , but was given the name Army Public School in the yea
r 1988. The institution was upgraded to Intermediate Level and renamed as Army Public School and College in 1994. In 1995, the Boys' Wing was established with classes from Class VI-XII. The Primary Wing was also established in 1997

Created mainly for the purposes of educating the children of Army personnel, the branches of the school are located in cities where there is an Army Base.
