The Christian Study Centre (CSC), under its program "Developing a Culture of Peace and Harmony," recently held a significant meeting with the Human Rights Department of the Government of Sindh and the Composite Heritage Council Sindh. The primary objective of this meeting was to introduce the crucial work CSC has been undertaking to promote interfaith harmony and preserve composite heritage in Pakistan.

During the meeting, representatives from CSC highlighted their various initiatives aimed at fostering social cohesion and cultural understanding among different communities. Through extensive research and community engagement, CSC has been addressing the vital issues and discrimination faced by minorities in Sindh. They discussed the challenges of forced conversions and marginalization, emphasizing the need to cultivate a future generation that values diversity and actively works towards peace and harmony.

CSC expressed appreciation for the efforts of the Human Rights Department in protecting minorities and addressing their issues. They acknowledged the department’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the rights and welfare of all communities, especially those marginalized.

The primary objective of this meeting was to introduce the extensive work CSC has been doing in promoting interfaith harmony and composite heritage in Pakistan.

During the meeting, CSC representatives highlighted their various initiatives aimed at fostering social cohesion and cultural understanding among different communities. They discussed the importance of integrating these values into the educational curriculum to cultivate a future generation that values diversity and works towards peace and harmony.

Dr. Fouzia Khan acknowledged the impactful work of CSC and expressed her appreciation for their dedication to societal betterment. The Ecumenical Forum for Christian Women in Pakistan recently organized an Art and Craft Festival at the Christian Study Centre (CSC). This vibrant event was inaugurated by Bishop Kamran Nadeem, the Bishop of Lahore, alongside Bishop Samuel Azariah, the Director of CSC.

The festival featured a variety of stalls run by women, showcasing an impressive array of crafts, clothes, paintings, books, food, and drinks. The primary aim of the festival was to highlight the diverse skills of women and provide them with a platform to display their talents to a larger audience. The initiative was not only a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship but also a significant step towards empowering women and fostering their talent.
Representatives from various churches participated in the festival, underscoring the event's ecumenical nature and the unity it fostered among different Christian communities. Participants expressed their admiration for the initiative, recognizing the importance of such platforms in encouraging and uplifting women.
Bishop Kamran Nadeem and Bishop Samuel Azariah both highlighted the significance of the festival in their opening remarks, emphasizing the need for continued support and recognition of women's contributions in church`s life and in various fields. The festival was well-received, with many participants appreciated the effort by the Ecumenical Forum for Christian Women and CSC in promoting and empowering women.

Mr. Anssi Kullberg, Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of Finland visited the Christian Study Centre and met with Bishop Samuel Azariah, Director CSC and its staff. Bishop Samuel welcomed Mr. Kullberg to the Centre. He introduced the diplomat to CSC's history, its mission, different thematic areas it works on and the programs that it has been running since its inception in 1967. CSC's staff, Mr. Basir Nayyer and Ms. Nida Feroze briefed about the Centre's various activities all over Pakistan for promoting Peace, intra and interfaith Dialogue, Human Rights and FoRB. Mr. Kulberg appreciated the Centre’s efforts for bringing people of different faiths closer and playing a positive role in promoting vulnerable communities' rights.

On June 28, 2024, the Christian Study Centre (CSC), in collaboration with the ISYD, organized an open mic session titled " " under its program "Developing a Culture of Peace and Harmony" in Lahore. The program aimed to bring together talented youth from diverse backgrounds to showcase their cultural expressions and contribute to a dialogue on peacebuilding. In recent times, the microphone has often been misused as a tool to spread hate and division. The initiative aims to reclaim the mic as a powerful instrument for promoting peace, understanding, and cultural harmony.

The session featured a variety of inspiring performances including poetry readings, musical acts, documentary screenings, and storytelling. All performances were centered around the themes of culture and peace, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of the participants.

A thought-provoking panel discussion was held with local artists, peace activists, and cultural leaders. The panel provided deep insights into the power of cultural diversity and the crucial role it plays in fostering peace and harmony in society.

The program highlighted the potential of the youth to be powerful agents of change in promoting peace.

CSC team Introduced the work it has been doing since its inception in 1967 and shared its ongoing work in promoting interfaith harmony, social cohesion, and human rights in society. The Centre's contribution to uplift marginalized sections of the community and foster equal citizenship was also highlighted. The Honorable Minister acknowledged and appreciated CSC's work and also expressed his profound concern for the minorities in Pakistan and shared his vision and commitment to empower and develop these vulnerable groups, especially their youth in any manner possible.
