The Animal Health Information System for Livestock Department Balochistan was inaugurated under the One Health Approach, a collaborative effort with National Institute of Health and UKHSA.
The ceremony
chaired by Dr. Muhammad Farooq Tareen, Director General (Animal Health), Livestock Department Balochistan.
The UKHSA team, led by Mr. Zeeshan Baig, Epidemiological Surveillance Lead, conducted a Capacity Building Workshop on Animal Disease Surveillance System in Balochistan on December 29-30, 2025.
This initiative aims to enhance disease surveillance and control in the region, aligning with Pakistan's efforts to adopt a One Health strategy.
The One Health Approach integrates human, animal, and environmental health to reduce zoonotic disease risks and antimicrobial resistance. Pakistan has developed a National One Health Strategic Framework to address these challenges, focusing on disease surveillance, public awareness, and collaboration.
Seminar on Climate-Smart Livestock Practices & Excellence Awards Ceremony | December 16, 2025 | Quetta
The Seminar on Livestock Climate-Smart Practices & Livestock Department Excellence Award Ceremony 2025, organized under the Revival of Balochistan Water Resources Programme (RBWRP-TA) with the support of the European Union, marked a significant milestone in strengthening sustainable and climate-resilient livestock development in Balochistan.
The prestigious event was graced by the Honorable Minister for Livestock, Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali, Secretary Livestock, Mr. Muhammad Tayyeb Lehri, along with all Directors General of the Livestock Department, also honored the seminar.
Mr. Jelle Beekma, Team Lead of the IWRM Programme, shared valuable insights on integrated water resource management and its critical role in supporting sustainable livestock systems in the face of climate change.
The seminar brought together policymakers, technical experts, development partners, and field professionals to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and strengthen collaboration.
A key highlight of the event was the distribution of Excellence Awards to distinguished officers in recognition of their outstanding performance, dedication, and valuable contributions to the livestock sector.
The event concluded on a high note, reinforcing a shared vision for a resilient, efficient, and climate-smart livestock sector in Balochistan, while celebrating excellence and commitment within the Livestock Department.
