Violence Against Doctors Is Unacceptable

The brutal acid attack on a female surgery resident at Civil Hospital Quetta is deeply distressing and deserves the strongest condemnation.

Hospitals are places of healing, compassion, and hope. No doctor or healthcare professional should ever have to fear violence while serving patients. The safety, dignity, and security of doctors are non-negotiable and must be safeguarded at all times.

We stand in complete solidarity with our colleague and call for a swift, transparent, and lawful investigation, with those responsible held fully accountable under the law.

This tragic incident is a reminder that ensuring a safe working environment for healthcare professionals—especially female doctors—is a shared responsibility. Strengthened security measures and a culture of respect for medical professionals are essential to protect those who dedicate their lives to caring for others.

Today it was one doctor.
Tomorrow it could be any healthcare worker.
