The man often referred to as the “world’s dirtiest man” passed away shortly after bathing for the first time in more than six decades. Amou Haji had lived an extremely isolated life in rural Iran and avoided washing for over 60 years because he believed soap and water would make him ill.
After years of concern, locals finally convinced him to bathe. Not long afterward, his health deteriorated, and he died at the age of 94. His unusual lifestyle drew international attention during his lifetime and became a symbol of how deeply personal beliefs can shape a person’s choices, even against social norms.
