Miss Amna Malik - faculty member at The Department of Political Science and International Relations (DPSIR). Her area of interest and research is Environmental Politics. Under the mentorship of Miss Amna, students regularly get exposure to environment related industries where they get practical insights of environment protection and sustainable development.

Miss Amna who teaches Environmental Politics to the BS students organized educational visits for awareness to the following departments

On June 29, 2026, a delegation of environmental politics students conducted an educational and site visit to the central testing facilities of Asian Consulting Engineers and its specialized sister concern, Asian Environmental Services (Pvt.) Ltd. in Lahore, Pakistan.The academic visit targeted the Department of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Lab, providing students with firsthand exposure to the practical interface between environmental policy, regulatory compliance, and scientific testing.

23rd June Environment Protection and Climate Change Department Punjab - a provincial government agency responsible for environmental governance, pollution control, and climate change policy implementation in Punjab, Pakistan

25th June Environmental Protection Agency Punjab (EPA Punjab) manages plastic waste through strict field enforcement, district committees, and public collection campaigns under the Punjab Environmental Protection Act

National Policy Dialogue on the creation of new provinces under Pakistan Political Science Consortium - an initiative of President UMT Ibrahim Hasan Murad was held. Department of Political Science and International Relations (DPSIR) was represented by chairperson Dr Muhammad Usman Askari who recieved the honorable guests. Chief advisor to the President UMT and Professor of Practice Lt Gen Javed Hassan was also present.

Dr. Syedah Sadia Kazmi Engages in Policy Advocacy on Women’s Labour Rights in Education: FGD organized by the UNDP

Dr. Syedah Sadia Kazmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science & International Relations (DPSIR), University of Management and Technology (UMT), participated in a Focused Group Discussion (FGD) on "Women's Labour Rights in Education Sector," organized as part of an empirical study commissioned by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Pakistan in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Pakistan.

The FGD brought together an accomplished group of women professionals from diverse backgrounds, including academia, research, teaching, and other professional fields. The session provided a constructive and inclusive platform for sharing experiences, perspectives, and insights on the realities of women’s participation and advancement in the workforce.

The discussion explored a range of important issues, including career progression and remuneration, working conditions, workplace discrimination and harassment, professional safety, grievance redressal mechanisms, and the broader challenges and opportunities encountered by women in the workplace. The candid exchange of views highlighted the importance of creating supportive, equitable, safe, and inclusive professional environments that enable women to participate and progress meaningfully in the workforce.

Dr. Syedah Sadia Kazmi’s participation in this important discussion reflects the significance of academic and professional engagement in contributing evidence based perspectives to conversations and policy inputs to ensure women’s empowerment, workplace equity, and inclusive development.

Students of Department of Political Science and International Relations (DPSIR) successfully completed the 6 week internship at the prestigious Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Syeda Muskan Zahra - DPSIR's focal person for ISPR efficiently managed the entire internship, coordination, administrative affairs including punctuality, attendance and transportation. She performed beyond expectations.

Moreover our student Ayesha Mujeeb from the IR 8th semester was master of the concluding ceremony which was a matter of immense pride.

Students of Department of Political Science and International Relations successfully completed their 2 week internship with the police. Internship ended with a concluding ceremony which was attended by Shahzada Sultan (PSP) - Chief of Investigation branch (Punjab Police) and DIG operations Lahore Faisal Kamran. Volunteers in Police (VIP) program gave the required exposure to our students. This initiative will surely reduced the gap between the students and police. DPSIR is proud of its consistent relations with Punjab Police.

DPSIR alumna Ms. Ifra Bhatti (BS International Relations, 2020–2024) has been awarded the prestigious Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC) to undertake a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Public Policy at Nankai University, China, from September 2026 to July 2028. Established in 1919, Nankai University is a century-old, nationally renowned research university and the alma mater of former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai. Recognized as one of China’s leading institutions of higher education, Nankai is part of the national Double First-Class initiative and was previously designated under both Project 985 and Project 211. Ranked #355 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2026
