Day 5 of PPST for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis –Batch-II
The fifth day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Graded Training Program (Batch-II) for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis took place on May 22, 2026, at KPJA. The day’s curriculum focused on a blend of complex substantive law and modern administrative tools, specifically targeting the Law of Inheritance and digital court management systems.
Dr. Qazi Attaullah, Director Research & Publication, led intensive morning two sessions on the foundational principles of Islamic inheritance. The instruction covered the various classes of heirs, including residuaries and sharers, and progressed to the advanced application of distribution rules within complex family structures. Participants utilized diagrams and practical exercises to refine their skills in determining shares and interpreting wills and testamentary succession.
The last session transitioned to technical court operations with training on the Case Flow Management Information System (CFMIS). Led by Mr. Muhammad Ali, Database Administrator, PHC, the session provided practical guidance on using CFMIS for efficient case and court management.

Day-4 of PPST for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis –Batch-II
The fourth day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Training for Batch II Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis at KPJA continued on May 21, 2026, with a great emphasis on advanced digital skills and emerging technologies.
Mr. Zulfiqar Khan Kakar led intensive workshops on Microsoft Word for efficient document formatting, followed by Microsoft Excel training on formulas and functions for administrative reporting and financial management. The mid-day session concluded with a Microsoft PowerPoint workshop focused on creating smart presentations, all aimed at bolstering the participants' technological proficiency and administrative capabilities.
The afternoon marked a significant shift in the training program with the introduction of the Generative AI in Courts module. Dr. Awais Adnan, from IMSciences, Peshawar, led the session, providing an overview of AI types, history, and current applications. The discussion specifically highlighted legal research use-cases and document creation, preparing the participants for the ongoing digital transformation within the justice sector. One-Day Training for Court Staff, Police and Prosecutors on GBV Case Management (May 20, 2026)
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA), in collaboration with Mera Ghar, Noor Education Trust (NET), and AGHS Legal Aid Cell, with support from the Government of Norway, conducted a one-day training workshop on “Capacity Building of Court Staff, Police Officials and Prosecutors on GBV Case Management” at KPJA, Peshawar.
The training brought together officials from various districts, including court staff, police officers, and prosecutors, to strengthen institutional coordination and improve responses to gender-based violence (GBV) cases.
Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Senior Director (Research & Publication) chaired the inaugural and concluding sessions and also conferred certificates on the participants.
The workshop featured interactive sessions on survivor-centered approaches to GBV by Ms. Rukhshanda Naz, Managing Trustee, Mera Ghar-Noor Education Trust, improved case management protocols in GBV cases by Ms. Hina Khan, SDA KPJA and state responsibility for the protection and participation of women by Ms. Faryal Zia M***i, DSJ/Judge ATC Kohat.
The programme concluded with discussions on ensuring access to justice, participant pledges, and a vote of thanks, reaffirming the stakeholders’ commitment to effective and coordinated handling of GBV-related matters.

Day-3 of PPST for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis –Batch-II
The third day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Training for Batch-II Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis at KPJA focused on a comprehensive review of written communication and practical IT applications.
Led by Dr. Sabeen Hayat, Assistant Professor for IMSciences, Peshawar, three consecutive sessions focused on professional written communication, systematically covering macro-level structure, mid-level grammatical clarity, and micro-level judicial style. Participants engaged in practical exercises and peer reviews to refine their ability to choose precise phrases while maintaining a proper judicial tone and decorum. These sessions specifically aimed to eliminate verbosity and bias, ensuring that the judicial officers possess the clarity and command required for their future administrative and adjudicatory roles.
The afternoon transitioned to technical skills with a hands-on workshop on ICT Tools. Mr. Zulfiqar Khan Kakar; the Academy's Web Developer, facilitated practical exercises in Microsoft Word, allowing participants to apply advanced formatting techniques to judicial documents.

Day-2 of Pre-Promotion Training for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis Batch-II Focuses on Judicial Ethics and Digital Skills

The second day of the Pre-promotion Statutory Training Program for Civil Judges/Ilaqa Qazis (Batch-II) continued on May 19, 2026, at KPJA. The morning session was allocated to Judicial Ethics and Code of Conduct, with Mr. Muhammad Zeb Khan, Registrar of the Peshawar High Court (PHC), as the resource person. The session delved into the specific codes of conduct for both judicial officers and civil servants, reinforcing the principle that a judge's conduct must remain above reproach to maintain public trust in the justice system.
Following this, the training transitioned to enhancing the participants' technical proficiency through sessions on ICT Tools. Mr. Zulfiqar Khan Kakar, Web Developer at the Academy, led a session on computer fundamentals, covering file management, data handling, and storage.
The afternoon was devoted to intensive workshops on Microsoft Word, moving from basic functions to advanced features. These sessions were designed to equip the participants with the necessary skills for efficient document creation and formatting, which is a key objective of the program’s information technology module.

KP JUDICIAL ACADEMY COMMENCES PRE-PROMOTION TRAINING FOR CIVIL JUDGES/ILAQA QAZIS BATCH II

The two-month Pre-promotion Statutory Graded Training Program for Civil Judges /Ilaqa Qazis (Batch-II) officially commenced on May 18, 2026, at the Academy in Peshawar.
Following the inaugural ceremony, the participants underwent pre-training registration and evaluation process to establish a baseline for the course. The morning continued with introductory sessions and detailed orientation briefs led by the Dean of Faculty, which covered the course contents, learning expectations, and the grading and assessment system. Participants were also briefed by the Ms. Hina Khan, Senior Director of Administration on the rules of conduct, lodging, and the proper use of the Academy’s resources and facilities.
Mr. Muhammad Shoaib, Senior Director Research & Publications, briefed the participants on the academic and research requirements of the training, specifically the assessment criteria for research articles, book reviews, and field visit synopses.
Dr. Sabeen Hayat, Assistant Professor from IMSciences, Peshawar, led specialized sessions on Research Methodology, guiding the participants through various research types and methods essential for legal research.

KPJA Inaugurates Pre-Promotion Statutory Graded Training Programme Civil Judges-cum-Judicial Magistrates / Illaqa Qazis, Batch II

PESHAWAR — The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy inaugurated the Pre-Promotion Statutory Graded Training Programme for Civil Judges-cum-Judicial Magistrates / Illaqa Qazis, Batch II on 18 May 2026. The eight-week programme scheduled from 18 May to 10 July 2026, with 16 Civil Judges/ Illaqa Qazis, across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participating in 40 days of intensive training. All Directors of the Academy were present at the ceremony.
Mr. Justice Ijaz Anwar, Senior Puisne Judge PHC / Vice Chairman KPJA, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He stressed the importance of continuous professional development and encouraged participants to translate the training into meaningful improvements in their judicial conduct and court management.
Mr. Jehanzeb Shinwari, Director General KPJA, delivered the Welcome Address and outlined the broad curriculum, spanning Judicial Ethics, Law, ICT Skills, Financial Administration, Leadership, and Generative AI in Courts, complemented by a Country Visit, a Field Visit, and research assignments.

Day-6: KPJA TOT in compliance with the judgment of the PHC in Asif Ullah V. Govt. of KP

PESHAWAR (May 16, 2026): The one-week Training of Trainers (TOT) program at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Judicial Academy (KPJA) reached its successful conclusion today with a high-profile ceremony graced by Hon’ble the Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court, Mr. Justice S. M. Attique Shah, as the Chief Guest.

The morning began with an interactive session led by a Hon’ble Chief Justice, followed by an intensive module on the Documentation of Investigation and Case Diaries, led by Director Instructions Mr. Dost Muhammad Khan.This session addressed the legal status and evidentiary value of case diaries, emphasizing their role in ensuring transparency throughout different stages of investigation and the necessity of prosecutorial oversight.

Thereafter, Dean Faculty Mr. Ahmed Iftikhar led a comprehensive session on Searches, Recoveries, Discoveries, and Chain of Custody. This module addressed the rigorous legal requirements for evidence collection and the critical need for independent maalkhana systems and an unbroken chain of custody, specifically as mandated in the judgment Asif Ullah v. Govt. of KP.

During the concluding ceremony, the Hon’ble Chief Justice addressed the participants who have now been passed out as Master Trainers. This training was a direct mandate of the Peshawar High Court’s landmark judgment in Asif Ullah v. Govt. of KP, which sought to reform systemic deficiencies in the criminal justice system, including improper crime scene management, defective FIR practices, and breakdowns in the chain of custody. The Chief Guest underscored that these reforms are essential for restoring public confidence and ensuring the constitutional guarantees of a fair trial. The event concluded with the conferment of certificates on the participants.

PESHAWAR (May 15, 2026): The Training of Trainers (ToT) program at KPJA reached a practical milestone on its fifth day with a comprehensive, full-day workshop session. This activity was specifically designed to transition participating judicial officers from trainees into Master Trainers capable of addressing systemic investigation lapses identified in the Asif Ullah v. Govt. of KP judgment.

The participants were divided into five specialized groups to deliberate on core thematic areas of the reform mandate. Following intensive deliberations and the preparation of presentations based on real-world case studies, the group leaders presented their findings and proposed training strategies for their respective districts. Each session was moderated by Faculty, whic provided synthesis and reflections to ensure all deliberations aligned with the high-level judicial mandates of the Peshawar High Court.

Day-4: KPJA TOT Advances with Forensic Training and Digital Integration
PESHAWAR (May 14, 2026): The Training of Trainers (TOT) program at KPJA entered its fourth day, focusing on the intersection of forensic science and the pedagogical development of the participating judicial officers.
The morning sessions commenced with Director General Jehanzeb Shinwari, who discussed presentation skills, a core competency for these officers as they transition into their roles as Master Trainers.
This was followed by two intensive technical modules led by Mr. Abdul Rehman, expert from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), Lahore, via Zoom. These sessions provided advanced training in Crime Scene Management, emphasizing the use of modern technology and forensic standards to eliminate the common investigative lapses that frequently undermine cases.
In the afternoon, Network Administrator Mr. Arman Khan provided a comprehensive briefing on the Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). This briefing focused on using the digital platform to manage educational materials and track training records, ensuring a standardized and sustainable multiplier effect for reforms across the province.

TOT Day-3: Trainees Explore Digital Forensics and Medical Jurisprudence
PESHAWAR (May 13, 2026): The third day of the specialized Training of Trainers (TOT) program at the Academy focused on the intersection of scientific evidence and criminal investigation.

The morning was allocated to a double sessions on Digital Forensics and Cyber Crimes, led by Mr. Masood Ali, Deputy Director, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), Islamabad. These sessions aimed to equip the participants with comprehensive directives for Investigators (IOs), emphasizing best practices for the collection of digital evidence and highlighting common procedural lapses. This module aligns with the Academy’s mandate to implement judicial reforms as directed by the Peshawar High Court in the case of Asif Ullah v. Govt. of KP.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted to Medical Evidence, led by Mr. Muhammad Zeb Khan, Registrar, Peshawar High Court. The module explored the fundamental role of medico-legal certificates (MLCs) and injury-sheets in criminal adjudication. Mr. Zeb Khan addressed systemic deficiencies and observed lapses in current medical reporting and provided key recommendations to ensure that forensic evidence meet the required legal standards during trial.
