The Lyceum conducted a highly lucrative discussion initiated by these breeding minds under the able tutelage of Sir Shakeel. A dedicated collective effect on the part of all the participants made it possible to understand and acknowledge the dilemma of hyper-real society. During our discussion, we learned that our society is more or less grappling with the problems of a hyper-real society. The session concluded on the note that until and unless due heed is paid to developing scientific thinking among the masses, the chances of weaning ourselves off the crisis of hyper-real society are unlikely.
The Lyceum thanks Sir Shakeel for his time, guidance, and energy.

Topic: Scientific Thinking and Hyper-Real Society
Dated: Feb 12, 2025.
We are pleased to announce our next session on the above topic. This session will encapsulate a discussion on our present-day dilemma of being exposed to distorted truth, curated reality, and fabricated information. Scientific thinking marks the boundary between truth and untruth, fact and fiction, and reality and illusion. It equips us to question everything and believe nothing without proof.
Our distinguished guest, Lecturer Mr. Shakeel Khattak from the Sociology Department, will demystify the basic themes related to our topic like what scientific thinking means, and why is it necessary. How does unscientific thinking affect us and distort our reality?

Session Concluded.
Today, 'The Lyceum' platform arranged a session on the topic 'The Populist Pulse in Politics' in which Mr. Hassan Falak shed light on how populism has replaced democracy and has shaped the modern political discourse and how come leaders like Trump, Imran Khan, Modi and Erdoğan owe their political career to populism?
Furthermore, Mr. Hassan addressed, across the world generally and in the context of Pakistan particularly, the rise of a fanatic disillusioned political psyche and it's impact on the whole political atmosphere and democracy that's still evolving in the country.
'Role of Media' has been discussed in detail that how media ahistoricise the political sphere and shapes the poltical beliefs of people who are prone to consuming media all day long.
Overall, the session was about the debunking of those tactics that Populist leaders have been using throughout the history. Moreover, Mr. Hassan spoke about the aftermaths that 'Populist Politics' has left in its backwash like the birth of 'Abusive Politics' in Pakistani Politics etc.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
Topic: The Populist Pulse in Politics.
A contemporary student of Politics and Political philosophy can hardly be oblivious of the pulse of populism in politics. Several politicians from Donald Trump and Javier Milei to Imran Khan owe their political careers to populist politics.
The populist philosophy is predicated on the division of society into two classes- the corrupt elite and the pure masses; and a populist leader acts as a quasi-messiah to heal the wounds of the masses which are inflicted by the corrupt few.
We would value your presence in our next session, where Mr. Hassan Falak will explain how the rise of Populism has shaped the contemporary political discourse?
Time and Venue: At 1pm on Dec 09; at Gule Dawoodi Lawn, ICP.

Dear netizens! The Lyceum has arranged an open-discussion session on the topic of Educational Crisis in Pakistan. It's the first of its kind where, unlike a speaker, the podium would be open to all of the participants to share their views.
This topic demands the attention of those at the helm of the state because it is pressed to defund the higher studies institutions.

Session Concluded: Institutional Crises in Pakistan: Activism, Over-Reach, and Particularity of Judiciary.
In today's session, Mr. Shah Nawaz expressed his views about the institutional Crises in Pakistan engendered by the undemocratic verdicts of judiciary in the history of our country. He critically explained the infamous decisions given by the judiciary throughout the history of Pakistan; which could be seen in the form of legalizing coup d'etat under the pretext of the law of necessity, and exploiting of articles 62 and 63 to de-seat two elected prime ministers.
The speaker juxtaposed the judicial history of Pakistan with India and clarified the infirmity of constitution in our country as compared with it. This has resulted from the unconstitutional role of the apex court by providing a legal cover to otherwise illegal acts. Though other institutions cannot be exonerated, he said, but judiciary acts as a B team of the establishment.
The Lyceum is committed to provide you with many vibrant sessions in the future if your support is guaranteed.
