The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Sarzamin Khan, as the chief guest.
The Vice Chancellor formally inaugurated the cattle shed, dairy animals, and farm machinery, including tractors, by cutting the ribbon.
Inauguration Ceremony Held at the Livestock Research and Breeding Farm, The University of Agriculture, Peshawaran Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, attended by Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman; Dean Faculty of Crop Production Sciences, Professor Dr. Humayun Khan; Dean Faculty of Crop Protection Sciences, Professor Dr. Shah Alam Khan; and Dean Faculty of Nutrition Sciences, Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal, along with faculty members and students.
On this occasion, Chairman of the Department of Livestock Management, Breeding and Genetics, Professor Dr. Syed Muhammad Sohail, provided a detailed briefing to the participants. He informed that the newly acquired animals were imported from the Netherlands and other European countries under the TDC project.
The Vice Chancellor also visited the feed section, where the Chairman explained that to enhance productivity, animals are being provided with silage, molasses, and specially prepared Wanda feed. He further stated that semen from these imported animals will soon be made available to the farming community.
It was also highlighted during the briefing that more than 70 postgraduate research studies have been completed on the animals at the farm. Additionally, training workshops are regularly organized for progressive farmers. Educational visits are also arranged for students from nursing institutes, paramedical institutions, and other academic organizations to raise awareness about the importance of livestock and dairy products.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Sarzamin Khan appreciated the efforts of the Chairman and his team for improving the farm. He assured full support and provision of necessary resources for further development, ensuring that students’ research continues effectively and that farm resources are utilized efficiently for the benefit of both the university and society.
In his concluding remarks, Dean Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude to the Vice Chancellor and all participants.
At the end of the ceremony, the Vice Chancellor thanked the deans, faculty members, participants, and the staff of the Department of Livestock Management, Breeding and Genetics for successfully organizing the event. He expressed hope that such activities would continue in the future. The ceremony concluded with the Chairman and Deans presenting a bouquet to the Vice Chancellor.
