Prepositional Phrase — quick guide
What it is:
A prepositional phrase = preposition + its object (noun/pronoun/gerund) ± modifiers.
> in the morning, under that old bridge, with great enthusiasm
Why it matters:
Acts like an adjective (“The book on the shelf is mine.” → describes book)
Or like an adverb (“She spoke with confidence.” → describes how she spoke)
Common prepositions:
in, on, at, by, for, from, with, about, over, under, between, during, without, after, before, toward, inside, outside
Quick checks:
1. No verb inside the phrase: “after finishing” ✘ (gerund ok) | “after he finished” ✘ (has verb)
2. Keep close to the word it modifies to avoid confusion.
3. Remove it mentally—sentence should still have a core meaning.
Practice:
Identify: “Students sat around the campfire.” → prepositional phrase? (around the campfire)
Combine: “The cat slept.” + details → “The cat slept under the warm blanket near the window.”

Sea otters are some of the cutest and most fascinating creatures of the ocean! 🦦🌊 Known for their playful personalities and thick, water-resistant fur, these adorable animals spend most of their time floating on their backs, using tools like rocks to crack open shellfish. They’re also incredibly social and often seen holding hands while they sleep to keep from drifting apart in the currents.
Not only are they charming, but sea otters also play a vital role in maintaining the health of marine ecosystems. By controlling sea urchin populations, they help preserve kelp forests, which provide shelter and food for many marine species.
Let’s appreciate and protect these wonderful sea creatures! 💙

Overthinking: A Trap We All Fall Into
Have you ever found yourself stuck in a cycle of thoughts, where you just can’t seem to stop analyzing every little detail of a situation? Overthinking is something most of us experience, but it can have a big impact on our mental health and daily lives.
When we overthink, we tend to:
Increase our anxiety as we dwell on future uncertainties.
Make decisions harder because we analyze every possible outcome.
Stress out about things that might not even happen.
While thinking things through is important, overthinking can lead to unnecessary stress and confusion. It can make us doubt ourselves, put off important decisions, and even affect our physical health by causing sleepless nights or headaches.
So, how can we stop the cycle?
Practice mindfulness to stay present.
Accept that not every question needs an answer.
Take small steps and trust yourself to make the best choice.
Next time you catch yourself overthinking, remember: you don’t have to have all the answers right away. It's okay to let go and take things one step at a time. 🧠💭

Their bodies are taking a toll.
Astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore Face Health Challenges After Prolonged Space Mission
After spending nine months in space, NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams have returned to Earth, but their prolonged exposure to microgravity and isolation has taken a toll on their bodies.
The effects of extended space travel are evident, with the astronauts requiring stretcher assistance after their splash landing off the Gulf Coast, near Tallahassee, Florida.
As they readjust to life on Earth, Wilmore and Williams are not only breathing fresh air but also experiencing the pull of gravity, which can cause a range of health issues.
These concerns include muscle and bone loss, vision problems, and even an increased risk of cancer.
According to experts, the astronauts' prolonged exposure to microgravity has led to noticeable changes, such as weakened leg muscles and altered foot shape.
Currently undergoing a series of medical tests at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Wilmore and Williams are being closely monitored for potential health complications. While they are still in the process of recovering, some experts warn that the effects of prolonged space travel may have already taken a lasting impact on their health.
In 2024, a group of astronomers used the Hubble Space Telescope and other advanced methods to refine our understanding of the age of the universe. Their findings point to an age of around 13.8 billion years, slightly more precise than previous estimates. This helps further calibrate our models of cosmic expansion and gives scientists better tools for understanding the early universe.
CRISPR technology has revolutionized genetic engineering, allowing scientists to edit genes with precision. In 2023, a breakthrough was made with CRISPR-based therapies that could potentially cure genetic disorders, such as sickle cell anemia and muscular dystrophy. Clinical trials have shown promising results, offering hope for curing diseases that have long been considered incurable.
