The Friends of Corner program is a global internship program offered by American Spaces and Lincoln Corners. Friends of Corner, or more commonly known as FOCs, are volunteers of the corner that work different in capacities, e.g. programming, designing, space management, etc.
Each FOC cohort lasts between 6-12 months, with volunteers receiving multiple training sessions for development, getting chances to network with consulate and embassy personnel through various programs, and a certificate by the U.S. Embassy acknowledging their work at the corner.

On November 15, Institute of Management Sciences welcomed Consul General Mr. Panfilo Marquez, from U.S. Consulate General Peshawar and Mr. William Ostick, Minister Counselor for Public Diplomacy, U.S. Embassy Pakistan to inaugurate the newly build “Creators’ Studio” in the Lincoln Corner Peshawar. This new facility provides access to fully equipped state of the art technology which will help students to learn creating high-quality audio & visual content.
The Director Dr. Muhammad Mohsin Khan and the official guests stressed on encouraging students to participate in availing learning opportunities within their spheres.
Along with students, entrepreneurs and faculty of the institute interacted with guests. They were introduced to various students’ projects developed with the support of resources provided in the Lincoln Corner.

ACADEMY FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS (AWE)
WINNERS OF SEED FUNDING COMPETITION

More than 30 participants from the second Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program, sponsored by the United States, competed for seed funding for their business start-ups on October 28. A panel of judges, comprised of Pakistani and American businesswomen, selected the top four proposals after reviewing participants’ business plans and hearing their pitches.
Out of the 4 cohorts and 80 total graduates of the AWE program, 30 women were shortlisted for the seed funding competition, amongst which AWE Peshawar bagged 2 positions in the top 4.
1st: Amna Afridi, eco-friendly bamboo toothbrushes
4th: Asia Umar Khan, healthy prepared foods for school lunches
They have each secured $5,500 and $2,500 respectively to launch or grow their business in Pakistan.

AWE is a three-month, rigorous course of online study using the DreamBuilder (https://dreambuilder.org) platform developed by Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management and the American company Freeport McMoran. AWE is designed to cultivate entrepreneurial know-how, help women entrepreneurs connect with funding opportunities, enhance opportunities for business expansion, and increase the likelihood of entrepreneurial success.
