دو سے چھے سال کے بچے پر خاص توجہ کیوں ضروری ہے ؟
بچے کی جسمانی اور ذہنی نشوونما پر بہت سے عوامل اثر انداز ہوتے ہیں جن میں سب سے اہم متوازن غذا اور متوازن ماحول نہایت ضروری ہیں۔
اس دوران دماغ کا سائز تقریباً ایک بالغ انسان جتنا ہو جاتا ہے جس میں پری فرنٹل کارٹیکس یعنی فرنٹل لوب کا ایک اہم حصہ تیزی سے فنکشنل ہوتا ہے۔ جوکہ پلاننگ ، فیصلہ سازی ، جذبات پر کنٹرول ، توجہ سمیت ہائر آرڈر تھنکنگ کا زمہ دار ہے۔ بچے کی یاداشت کے لیے ہپوکیمپس کافی حد تک فنکشنل ہو جاتا ہے۔ نیورل کنیکشنز مزید مضبوط ہوتے ہیں اور بچہ تصورات پر مبنی سوچ کا استعمال شروع کرتا ہے جوکہ تخلیقی صلاحیت کے لیے بنیاد فراہم کرتی ہے۔

تین سے چھے سال تک کی عمر بچے کی ذہنی نشوونما کے لیے انتہائی اہم ہے۔ اس وقفے کے دوران ذہنی صلاحیتوں میں بہت بڑی بڑی تبدیلیاں آنا ضروری ہے۔ جن میں حسی اعضاء کا مکمل طور پر فنکشنل ہو کر نروس سسٹم سے مستقل تعلق قائم ہونا تاکہ بچہ ماحول سے اپنا تعلق شعوری طور پر قائم کر لے ، یعنی ماحول میں ہونے والی چھوٹی سے چھوٹی تبدیلی سے شعوری طور پر آگاہ رہے اور اس کے ساتھ ساتھ فیصلہ سازی اور یاداشت کی صلاحیت میں ترقی جس کا ڈائریکٹ تعلق ماحول سے حاصل ہونے والی حسی معلومات سے ہو بہت ضروری ہے۔
مروجہ تعلیمی نظام اس اہم وقفے میں بچوں کو کتابیں رٹوانے ، رٹے ہوئے جملے سنانے اور ایسے تصوراتی خیالات یاد کروانے میں الجھا دیتا ہے جس سے نروس سسٹم کا حسی اعضاء سے مضبوط تعلق اس درجے میں قائم نہیں ہوتا جو کم سے کم حد تک ضروری ہے۔ اس کا نتیجہ آپ یہ دیکھیں گے کہ اگلے کئی سالوں تک بچہ کتابی علم اور عملی زندگی کو الگ الگ دائرے میں رکھتا ہے اسے اردگرد کی دنیا سے ریلیٹ کر کے سمجھنے کی بجائے دماغ میں کسی خالی جگہ پر بھرنے اور امتحانات میں لکھنے تک محدود کر دیتا ہے۔ سکول یہ کوشش کرتا ہے کہ بچے کو کتابی مواد یاد ہو جائے جسے وہ امتحانات میں انڈیل آئے ۔ یہی وہ خرابی کی جڑ ہے جو سیکھنے کے پراسس کو تباہ کر دیتی ہے۔ بچے کا کتاب سے تعلق صرف مواد کو دماغ کے کسی کونے میں منتقل کرنے تک محدود رہ جاتا ہے جس کی درستگی میں کئی برس لگتے ہیں۔
کیا ہم اسے غفلت شمار کریں یا ذہن کو تباہ کرنے والا زہر جو بہت سے تعلیمی ادارے بچوں کو پلا رہے ہیں اور انہیں زندگی بھر کے لیے مفلوج کر رہے ہیں۔؟

تقریباً 98 فیصد پاکستانی سکولز میں ایک اہم حقیقت نظر انداز کی جاتی ہے، اور وہ یہ ہے کہ درجہ اول سے پانچویں درجہ کے طلباء صرف چند بنیادی صلاحیتیں حاصل کر پاتے ہیں جو انتہائی ابتدائی درجے میں شمار ہوتی ہیں۔ اس دوران، بچوں کا دماغ ایسے نیورانز بنا چکا ہوتا ہے جو بعد میں اعلیٰ درجے کی صلاحیتوں کو حاصل کرنے میں رکاوٹ بنتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ میٹا کاگنیشن کا درجہ بھی صرف چند افراد ہی اچھی طرح حاصل کر پاتے ہیں، اور وہ بھی اپنی آدھی زندگی گزارنے کے بعد۔
یہ ایک المیہ ہے جو بڑی تیزی سے معاشرے کو کھوکھلا کرتا جارہا ہے۔ تنقیدی سوچ ، مخالف نظریات کو پرکھنا ، اچھائی اور برائی کا میعار پر فیصلہ کرنا ، دوسروں سے ہمدردی اور مشکل میں کام آنا وغیرہ جیسی صلاحتیں ناپید ہوتی جارہی ہیں۔
سکولز کا فوکس بچوں کو کتاب ختم کرنے اور امتحانات میں آنے والے سوالات یاد کروانے پر مرکوز رہتا ہے۔ ستم تو یہ ہے کہ اس جرم کو فخریہ انداز میں پیش کیا جاتا ہے۔ بچوں کی صلاحیتیں مار دی جاتی ہیں۔ انہیں خوف اور دہشت کے سائے میں رکھا جاتا ہے۔
ہمیں ایسے فرسودہ نظام کو خیرباد کہنا ہوگا اور اپنی نئی نسل پر رحم کھانا ہوگا۔ دوسرے الفاظ میں ہمیں ایسے نظام کے خلاف کھڑا ہونا ہے جو ہمارے بچوں کی صلاحیتوں کا قتل عام کر رہا ہے ۔ دنیا کے ترقی یافتہ ممالک اپنی نئی نسل کو ایسا نظام دے رہے ہیں جو ان کی ذہنی نشوونما میں معاون اور اسے نکھارنے کا کام کر رہا ہے۔
