With the grace of ALLAH Almighty, the first One Day National Conference on ‘Contemporary Trends in English Language, Literature and Linguistics’ organized by the Department of English, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology, Nawabshah resulted in a big success. Around 20 universities participated in the conference. The moral assistance of the Patron-in-Chief Prof. Dr. Saleem Raza Samo, the Vice Chancellor of QUEST, Nawabshah, Patron, Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain Abro, Pro Vice-Chancellor QUEST and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Channa, Dean faculty of Science, Conference Chair, Prof. Dr. Insaf Ali Siming, Chairman of English Department, Conference Secretary, Dr. Abdullah Laghari & Dr. Muhammad Arif Soomro led to achieving the milestone in the conference.

The worthy Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of Prof. Dr. Insaf Ali Siming and his dynamic team in organizing a magnificent that brought scholars across the country onto the platform to contribute significantly. The Vice Chancellor’s address followed two plenary talks by Prof. Dr. Madad Ali Shah, the Vice Chancellor, SBBU SBA and Prof. Dr. Tariq Hassan Umrani, the former Director, IELL University of Sindh which provided the scholars with rich insights into research. Afterwards, the panel discussions had significant deliberations in the domain of literature and linguistics. The former was moderated by Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar comprising Dr. Ghazal Shaikh, Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ali Buriro, Dr. Shabana Tunio and Prof. Syed Farzand Ali Shah as panelists; whereas, the latter was moderated by Ms. Kishwer Nazli comprising Prof. Dr. Farida Yasmeen Panhwar, Dr. Sahiba Khatoon, Dr. Waseem Malik and Prof. Dr. Mansoor A. Channa as panelists.

Oral presentations and Poster presentations shared the rich insights and provided platforms to the novice researchers to share their research contribution. The poster presentations were judged by Dr. Tania Laghari and (Dr) Mansoor Ali Koondhar. Central Library was the hub of research on that day in which the efforts of Mr. Farooq Ahmed Channar are praiseworthy in maintaining the library which remained the centre of attraction for the scholars.

Heartfelt congratulations to the conference chair, Prof. Dr. Insaf Ali Siming on displaying a fabulous show. Dr. Siming highlighting the importance of conferences hinted that he would go to an International conference very soon. He opined that the response of the scholars and expert linguistics participating across the country was more than an encouragement for the entire team of the English Department which might result in an International Conference which would turn out to be as glorious as the first conference was.

We welcome Kishwer Nazli, Senior Lecturer at IoBM University Karachi, to the 1st National Conference on Contemporary Tends in English Language, Literature & Linguistics QUEST SBA as a Panelist.

Ms. Kishwer Nazli , a Ph.d Scholar in Applied Linguistics, a passionate linguist, completed her MSc in Geography from university of Karachi, M.A in English Literature and Linguistics from University of Karachi and MS in Applied Linguistics from NEDUET University. Currently, she is working with IOBM as a Senior Lecturer II in the Communication and Languages department. Also, she has an extensive work history of more than 14 years with reputed universities as FAST, ZIAUDDIN, KIET and NED as Lecturer. She began her professional journey from Bahria College Karachi NORE 1 and served there for 10 years.
She has been an active debater and speaker in her student life and now she has adjudicated numerous Bilingual Declamation Contest in many reputed institutions.
She is a teacher trainer, Career Counselor and Social Activist. She teaches online Business Communication, Functional English to Non Englishers like German, Japanese and Arabian Students. Also teaching online M.A English Literature for private sector university students for 10 years. Recently she conducted a Teacher Training Workshop from the platform of SPELT.
She has completed Corporate Training from “BEST” Training and consultancy by Mr. Qaiser in 2022. She has conducted various training sessions organized by KWSDC. She has also been invited on various TV shows for the discussions on “Effective Communication Skills”.
Her research Interest Areas are Critical Discourse Analysis and Pragmatics. Recently she has conducted an International Webinar on “Politeness in Pragmatics”.
She has published one paper at ICLAP “Gendered language in Media” and working presently on a paper “Language and Gender at workplace”. Her interest areas are Critical Discourse Analysis and Second Language Teaching. Her research paper “A Comparative Analysis of Monolingual and Bilingual teaching” has been published in IJRS. Moreover, she trains teachers from the platforms of SPELT and other institutions and hosted many conferences and sessions. She has published a paper as the first author “The Role of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) in Language Teachers’ Professional Development in January,2023, and another paper “Exploring the factors Influencing Gender Disparity in STEM Education” on 4th November, 2023

Dr. Muhammad Arif Soomro is equally working as a Conference Secretary in the First National Conference on Contemporary Tends in English Language, Literature & Linguistics QUEST SBA.

Dr. Muhammad Arif Soomro works as an Assistant Professor of Linguistics at Department of English, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science & Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah, Pakistan. He has successfully completed his PhD in Linguistics and Literary Studies from RUDN University, Moscow. His research interest focuses on socio-psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, politeness theory, forms of address, cross- and intercultural pragmatics, cultural linguistics, applied linguistics, communication apprehension/anxiety. He authored articles in well-known publishers Springer, UKM and international journals including Asian-Pacific Journal of Second and Foreign Language Education, Corpus Pragmatics, Language, Linguistics, Literature, The Southeast Asian Journal, GEMA Online, Journal of Language Studies are among many others.

Dr. DrAbdullah Laghari is actively playing the role of Conference Secretary in the first National Conference on Contemporary Tends in English Language, Literature & Linguistics QUEST SBA .

Dr. Abdullah Laghari has earned a PhD degree in Linguistics from Institute of English Language and Literature, University of Sindh, Jamshoro Pakistan. Dr. Laghari is one of the dynamic faculty members at Department of English, Quaid-e-Awam University Nawabshah. He's well-known among his students for his innovative teaching stand. The areas of his interest include Classroom Management, Communicative Language Teaching, Technology-integrated teaching and learning. Besides, he has delivered his Keynote talks in several international conferences. He is a Master Trainer as he has conducted a number of training workshops for School, College and University teachers at various platforms including Directorate of Training Executive Centre, QUEST Nawabshah. He is a motivational speaker and conducts Career Counselling Sessions for students.

Dr. Laghari has presented his research papers at various national as well as international conferences.

Let's welcome Dr. Ishfaque Ahmed Abbasi, Assistant Professor at Sukkur IBA University, to the first National Conference on Contemporary Tends in English Language, Literature & Linguistics QUEST SBA .

Dr Ishfaque Ahmed Abbasi is a PhD in Applied Linguistics from UTHM, Malaysia. He is working as Assistant Professor at Sukkur IBA University. His areas of research include English Language Teaching, English for Specific Purposes, and Literature.
He has a vast experience of more than 17 years. He has been the pioneer of Online English courses at Sukkur IBA University in 2016-17, in collaboration with Johnsons County Community College, Kansas, USA.
